Death of a linguist.

Linguistics makes me want to die. I just don't understand what we're learning right now. How is that possible? Sure, we're working with abstract ideas, but I've studied plenty of abstract stuff:

1. Poetry (I can break that down pretty good too)
   
2. Philosophy (I know the difference between objective and subjective, that's half the course right there!)
   
3. Art (colors =  symbolism)
   
4. Music (dots on paper = loveliness ... I thought so)
   

I also understood what was going on in chemistry most of the time and I studied that for three years!! I'm going to actually read the text this weekend-- that might help, and if I still don't get it, I'll visit my prof.
