Hikari doesn't make a habit of eating ice cream a lot, since she is a pretty vain teenage girl. If she's hanging out with friends or family and the always-summery weather is getting to them back in Tokyo-3, she prefers strawberry ice cream.

It's still the same in the Gardens, but now she has seasons to deal with.

Pepper is exceedingly frustrating to her because of how it stings her eyes and nose. She doesn't like to sneeze and it makes her more likely to make mistakes. Onions are irritating for those reasons as well.

What was Hikari actually up to for the last few episodes of canon, anyway? Besides rightfully running away from crazytown?

(I'm gonna laugh if she and the guys have scenes in the Director's Cut I don't know about).

Well, the last appearance she has in the series is talking to Toji after the whole Angel in the EVA situation, where she promised to tell his sister he's okay. I'm guessing she didn't get to see Toji after that last time because she only got five minutes the one time she did. There's nothing in the Director's Cut from my knowledge with her in it.

Her house was destroyed in the explosion that Rei caused when she self-destructed her EVA, along with... a lot of other houses. She probably evacuated to somewhere else and - according to Misato when she's saying goodbye to PenPen - her family took him with them.

So it was basically her with her bro penguin and father and sisters in some new place before Third Impact. And being very scared and lonely while trying to keep her family together. I think of her being in the middle of cooking dinner when the Third Impact happened, with PenPen sitting by and throwing back a beer sadly.
