I have need of your assistance, if you should be willing to give it. It concerns the matter of known traitors in our midst, and the unfortunate lack of judgment on them.
Does the cause matter, Gabriel? Traitors to their oaths, their allegiances. The Emperor-Over-the-Sea has given to me the lives of all traitors, and I have made a pact to collect on some of them.
Is a man who betrays a worthy cause any more a traitor than a man who betrays an unworthy one? And who is to judge which side is worthy? They are all traitors, and by the laws of Deep Magic they belong to me, unless another sacrifices in their place.
None are trespasses against myself, therefore I do not know the specific betrayal. It is enough for me that the betrayal exists, but...if it would assuage your conscience, I have my captain investigating those I've chosen to begin with.
I would not give away my right to these lives regardless. What I ask is more...subtle assistance. There are those who will point their fingers at me, who will dispute the rightness of my claim. I do not wish at this time to become embroiled in the petty politics of this land.

This sounds quite familiar.
And what will you do to collect?

I shall execute them myself.

Father. Father. Father. Father.
So it is to be.

Will you give me your assistance?

I will not stand in the way of progress. However, I'm unable to commit myself entirely. I will give aid where I am at liberty to.
