Pascal wasn’t quite sure what to do with the twins now in his midst. He’s known they were coming of course. Rapunzel had explained the whole situation to him and even if she hadn’t, it would have been rather difficult to miss the bump protruding from the petite princess’ mid-section. But now they were here, and taking up most of his best friend’s time. He would still sit on her shoulder, naturally, but it wasn’t quite the same.
The twins weren’t all bad, though, he supposed. The little princess found amusement in his various facial expressions, while the prince had a propensity to grab at Pascal’s tail in a way that tickled rather than hurt.
The best part, though, was the way the two small creatures made Rapunzel’s face light up. For so many years, Pascal had seen her face contorted with pain or fear or sadness. She had had no life, apart from what he had created in her imagination, and she deserved so much more than that.
Now, she had a family, and a loving husband, and two beautiful, healthy children who adored her (not to mention, a loyal pet). She had nothing to live for before, but now she had everything.
And that meant the world to Pascal.
