As the night was drawing to an end, Kazran found himself leading Abigail back to his home. Her strength was fading now, and as he laid her down on his bed, the colour in cheeks was disappearing. He sat on the edge of the bed and held her hand in both of his, desperately hoping that some of his own life force might pass through to her, but despite it all, her breathing grew shallow and her eyes grew dim. As she slipped away, Kazran heard her whisper three words that tugged at his already aching heart.
“Best Christmas ever.”
