Author's Notes: I decided to finish this series up quickly, since I've just started a new job and am still studying, so knowing my luck, if I'd tried to flesh it out any more, the new season would have started and AU'd the hell out of this. I mean, it'll still do that, but at least it'll be finished. Thanks for all your lovely feedback during the course of this. I know I haven't responded to every comment, but I appreciate them all. This definitely won't be my last Myka/HG fic.
Part 1 - Surprises Part 2 - Going To Be Okay Part 3 - Just The Start Part 4 - Desperate Measures Part 5 - Breaking and Entering Myka didn’t question how Helena “knew a guy” in Utah who could fix them up with fake passports and ID. She was beyond asking questions by that stage. She stood back and let Helena do the talking and instead examined what were currently her hands and tried to get used to them. Since Helena needed the guy in Utah to recognise her, Myka had been the one to use Taubman’s thimble. They had chosen the likeness of a woman they’d seen on the street one day as they’d been driving, in the hope that this would help make them look as ordinary as possible. If any issues arose, of course, there was always the town crier’s bell to get them out of trouble.
Once they had the necessary documentation, and Helena had convinced her friend that the five dollars she was handing him was considerably more (he was going to hate her for that), they were on their way. A plane got them from Utah to the coast, and from there they hopped on a cruise for a few days (Myka loved being able to relax, even it was only for a little while). Helena seemed to have a little too much fun using the bell to convince people she wasn’t really on their “Most Wanted” lists or the woman they had seen photos of on the news. They knew they couldn’t spend too long in one place, and preferably had to get out of America, so it was on another plane as soon as possible.
They ended up in a village somewhere in Europe, where very few people spoke English and no one even came close to recognising them. The biggest reaction they got was a few suspicious looks from the locals. It took quite a bit of looking, but eventually they came across a place where they could live. Myka couldn’t quite believe how things had turned out.
A couple of weeks later, once they were sure that they wouldn’t have any use for them anymore, they decided it was time to return the stolen artefacts to where they belonged. They couldn’t risk sending them from anywhere near where they had settled down, so a trip to the neighbouring country was in order. One thing Myka would never fully grasp was how easy it was to travel from country to country in Europe; Helena was used to it, of course, being British, but it was an entirely new to Myka.
As the crate containing the two artefacts was carried away from them, Myka couldn’t help but feel a stab of sadness. While she was completely happy to have a new life with Helena, these things were her last connection to her old life with Pete and Claudia and the rest of the Warehouse family, and now they were being sent away. Well. She’d always have the memories.

A month later, a crate was delivered to Leena’s B&B, addressed to Pete Lattimer. He wasn’t expecting anything, and he opened it quickly, curious about its contents. Inside, he found the two artefacts that had gone missing the night the Warehouse had been broken into, and a letter. He was surprised to find he recognised the handwriting in which his name was scrawled across the envelope. Even all these months later, he still couldn’t quite believe Myka had left the way she did. He had felt like he had lost his sister, and the hole was still there. Now there was finally an opportunity to see what had happened to her. He ripped the envelope open and unfolded the letter it contained.
Dear Pete,
I’m sure by now you’ve figured out that I’m partially responsible for all the trouble that’s been going on lately. Please believe me when I say that I am truly sorry for that. I know you probably still haven’t forgiven me for leaving, but I had realised that despite you and the rest of the team being a family to me, the Warehouse wasn’t the place for me anymore. I was trapped, and the only way to escape was to leave.
Helena is with me, and I am so happy to have her by my side. I had to find her; I couldn’t bear the thought of what they were doing to her where they had her locked up. We have a life together now. We don’t want to keep lying, which is why we’ve returned the artefacts to you. Don’t try to find us by the post mark on the crate. We don’t live anywhere near there. If we did, I’m sure we wouldn’t be hanging around too long anyway. We’ll continue moving; it’s the only way we’ll really be safe.
I miss you, and everyone else. Say hello to them for me if you can. I know it’s probably hard for you to accept the choices I’ve made, but I hope you will be able to, one day. Perhaps this will all blow over and we’ll be able to see each other again some time. I’d like that. Until then, take care of yourself, and look out for the others for me.
Lots of love,
Myka.
Pete felt his throat tighten as he reached the end. He bit his lip and held the letter close to him. She was right; it was hard for him to accept. But at least she was happy. He was sure that Artie or the Regents or someone was going to try to take that from her as soon as they found out about all of this, but for now, at least, he could rest assured.
