Christmas #2, general wrap up, and other happenings
Saturday 12/27- After some confusion and drama about when people were supposed to be arriving at my parents' house we packed up and drove down at 5:30 pm or so- much later than I had wanted to go down. Massive fog made the trip down a little more interesting than usual. I managed to kill one of my mom's wreaths upon entering the house and we saw the "Christmas Tree of DOOOM!" that was so wide it could only be taken home in my sister's truck, and the doors had to be removed to get it inside the house!
Fairly shortly after my sister-in-law, brother and baby, and Lil' Sis' boyfriend arrived we sat down to dinner. Glad to have Italian food after almost a week of Polish/Lithuanian. After dinner we played Apples to Apples because everyone thought that everyone else had Taboo. We brought down our Wii stuff and even some Karaoke Revolution, but it didn't end up being used. After that it was time for bed. We laid out all the presents around the tree and mr_q_o_p and I bunked out on the couches. Neither of us slept particularly well, as usual.
Sunday 12/28- I got up around 7 am, and everyone else awoke shortly thereafter. Lots of presents were opened, including the duplicate present of the year- DVD's of "On Broadway" and a scary talking Elmo for C. After that we had the traditional breakfast, consisting mainly of fried dough. The oil was poppier than usual this year, so some burns were acquired in the making of the fried dough. When breakfast was over we cleaned up the family room (where we opened gifts) and played a game that Lil' Sis' boyfriend taught us called "Left Center Right". It was so fun, and since we played for money we even made a few bucks! We're probably going to pick up the game ourselves.
The boys watched the Pats game the rest of the day and I helped my mom make lunch/dinner, which actually turned out really well for not having recipes. After "linner" My sister-in-law, brother and C. had to get back to their house because it is undergoing renovations, so we decided to leave as well. We got home, and I unpacked our stuff while mr_q_o_p played a video game withjr_psykira . Then we all watched "The Dark Knight".
Overall we had a very nice week of Christmas seeing both families, even if it was exhausting. The gifts we gave were well-received (I think) and we received some really nice things as well. Tops on our list are all the DVD movies and series that mr_q_o_p got, a GPS for our car, new sheets, a steel and pave' diamond bracelet for me, gift cards, video games for me, and money for a house and computer update.
I was supposed to have an interview today at a temp agency, but had to cancel as I seem to have acquired jr_psykira 's stomach virus. This week entails two parties back-to-back (Secret Santa 12/30 and New Year's/mr_q_o_p 's b-day 12/31), a brunch on 1/1 and hopefully some rest!
