mod announcement

Dec 20, 2011 12:32

Hello, QoH! Your mods here with an announcement we'd like to make.

We're making this post in response to having been contacted by players directly with concerns that they were feeling uncomfortable expressing their thoughts and opinions about the game.

First of all, we'd like to make a disclaimer. We have neither the desire nor the ability to control or police what is said on forums that are outside of the game, whether that be anoncomm, plurk, AIM, or elsewhere. While we would prefer that people come to us or contact each other individually when issues arise, we're aware that isn't always going to be the case. We can't force anyone to behave a certain way; we wouldn't want to, and we prefer to treat our players like mature individuals who are capable of making their own judgments and decisions. However, we can suggest patterns of behavior that we expect all of our players to follow.

- As stated in the rules: be courteous to one another. Treat each other as you would want to be treated. Disagreements and differences of opinion will happen, but we'd like to ask that everyone make their best effort to remain polite.
- It's perfectly all right to have negative opinions, whether that be about a plot, a mod decision, or another player's characterization. No one is or can be flawless. That said:
-- If you have an issue with the way a player is portraying their character, please make every effort to either contact that individual directly with polite, constructive criticism or, failing that, contact the mods.
-- If you have concerns or questions about a plot or a decision we've made, you are always free to contact us, whether via the suggestions posts, by e-mail, or individually. We have an open-door policy and we will not think less of you because you've disagreed with something we did.
- Bullying, trolling, or wanking of other players over their opinions or characterization is something we take very seriously. While, again, we cannot control or act on what is said anonymously, we will take action if presented with reasonable evidence that one of our players is being harassed by another.

The last thing we want as mods is for anyone to be made to feel uncomfortable speaking their mind, and we strive to keep this game a place where everyone here is able to do so.

Again, we'd like to reiterate that you are free to contact us with all questions or concerns. If you'd like to make a comment here, anonymous commenting is turned on.
