In which Bonnibel gets pecked by birds

Jan 02, 2012 17:41

Characters: Princess Bubblegum, Marceline the Vampire Queen & Fionna the Human
Date:  Backdated to the morning of December 22nd
Summary:  Day breaks on the second day.
Warnings: None. Well, maybe a little language.

Bonnibel woke up at the first signs of morning, while her companions were still well asleep. Quietly she got dressed into her hoodie and thick skirt, which still smelled faintly of roast pheasant and apples. Then she slipped out of the tent, ever so careful not to let any indirect sunlight fall on Marceline in the process.

She walked around a little in the snow, and savored her moment of quiet solitude. The air was clean and cold, the snow was beautiful and the sun felt wonderful on her skin. It wasn't often that she ever had any time to herself like this, and those few moments were usually spent in the lab absorbed in work. Some days work was all that she had, it was all that defined her. This was the first time in the longest time that she had this kind of opportunity for quiet reflection, and she was immensely glad for it. It let her put her thoughts and feelings in order. And, she figured, it would be better if she weren't in the tent when Marceline woke up. Space was an integral component to any interpersonal relations, and given how much... tension the two of them could build up at this point, they both needed a healthy amount of it from time to time. Being over-present at this stage of... things was just going to work against her anyway. And as for Fionna, well, she was still feeling bad for bringing up the Ice Queen to her.

Before long Bonni found the river's edge, not too far from the camp, and eagerly drank from it. The water was crisp and fresh and, she retroactively hoped, not filled to the brim with paramecia and bacteria. But right now she had something more important to do than worry about that. The birds! She needed to call the birds! If Marceline was able to do it, then surely she could too? Bonnibel gave out a loud hawk's screech, the sound she used to call The Morrow, and watched as every last bird that was perched up in those branches flew directly away from her. She tried chirping, but it came out badly and garnered no response. She yelled and cursed at them in every language she knew how to curse in, which was not a short list. And then she collapsed onto her knees, defeated.

"Seriously, can you please work with me here?" And, as if in response, a blue jay landed right there by her foot. She laughed, What the nuts was that all about?!  Did the birds respond to politeness? Bonni just loved that idea, and played it up a little. "Would you, oh bluest of the jays, be so everlastingly and awesomely kind as to bring me a pen and parchment?" The bird chirruped in response, and beat its wings. It had flown just a short distance when...

"Wait, please wait!" The jay perched on a branch, and turned its head back to her, tilting it inquisitively. "I need..Please, please bring me a parasol thick enough to block out sunlight entirely. And make sure that it's rockingly stylish and not without the utmost of badassness, if that's at all possible." Another chirrup and the bird was ready to take off when Bonni spoke up again.

"Oh and!" The bird circled back around, and looked as annoyed as a blue jay possibly could look. It landed on her shoulder and pecked at her a couple of times in frustration. "A sword! Ow. Something meant to be wielded by a true hero with, ow, ruby. Some amount of beautiful ruby, please?" The bird looked her square in the eye, and waited for any more requests. When none came it was airborne again.

"And one more thing!" The blue jay dive bombed her. "OW! I was just going to say thank you, you massive butt!" Now with her business taken care of, and a few bird related bruises and pecks garnered, Bonni made her way back towards the campsite.
(OOC: The birds will arrive with their items in my next post, so sit tight until then!)
