Amamiya slid into the hot water, leaving her towel by the water's edge and sighing as the heat drained the tension right out of her muscles. She'd known the onsen was here, but she hadn't made much use of it until now; She was going to have remedy that. This really was the best way to relax.

I know I am threajacking all over the place, but I am trying to get Fionna to know other humans! fionna_time December 30 2011, 13:36:12 UTC
After the fiasco earlier, Fionna was much more inclined to stay by herself and hopefully not draw any attention. She supposed a good way for that was also to take off her hat, which she figured was childish looking anyway, but it was HERS so she was now willing to part with it.

At first.

Gradual exposure to the Onsen, however, made it unbearable to have the hat on ALL the time, so she finally gave herself a moment to let her hair breathe, it billowing a little behind her in defiance from the girl's earlier pronouncement that it should be pulled up.

And then she realized she had company.

"Oh, hey guy!" She said, sinking a little lower. "How's it goin'?"

Not really threadjacking if I don't have any replies yet, haha! gentlecuteside December 30 2011, 22:12:49 UTC
Amamiya was caught openly staring. Not at Fionna's body, like one might expect, but at...that hair. It was billowing out in every direction, and there was a lot of it. Amamiya didn't even think hair came that long.

"W-what?" she said when Fionna spoke to her, blinking in confusion as she was snapped out of her hair-induced stupor. "Oh, um, it is going just...fine..."

She couldn't bring herself to take her eyes off of that golden ocean of hair.

Fionna, of course, at first thought it WAS her body she was staring at, but not in a pervy way, and she looked apprehensive. She did slink a little into the water, mindful that her hips were a bit big, she was prolly a lot bigger in the bazoobs than she liked, and her hair...

Oh!

"Dude, its just long. No one can really cut my hair or whatever, so I just stick it in my hat and it stays outta trouble. Cake cuts it sometimes, but otherwise its pretty reg."

She swum over, trying to at least attempt to be friendly. "Hi, I'm Fionna!"

Had Amamiya been measuring herself against Fionna's body, she would likely have helt she came up short, with her lack of significant bazoobs. However, she wasn't looking at that at all. She was looking at the hair.

"Amamiya," she answered. Her eyes were still fixed on those golden locks, but she shook her head, spraying a bit of water from her own blue hair, and unstuck them. "I'm sorry for staring, I simply...well, I've never seen hair as long or thick as yours. It's...impressive. How on earth do you keep it clean?"

She thought her hair was a pain in the ass to manage...

Fionna would have been glad she wasn't: for all the talk of her being a tomboy (mostly from the ice queen) she certainly didn't have the build of one, which was awkward enough. Her hair, on the the hand, was at least something she could talk about.

"Nice to meet you, Amima-mi-miya," Fionna said, stuttering the name. Man, it was MUCH harder than she thought to pronounce. "Nah, its ok, I usually never take my hat off and stuff. In fact, I usually have my sis Cake help me brush and clean it and junk. I'm gonna have to do it myself now."

She grinned. "But yours is blue! That's awesome!"

"It's just my natural color," she said simply, but something else was bothering her. "Fionna, did you...wash your hair before you got into the bath?"

You weren't supposed to stick anything dirty into the onsen's water, after all. And that hair was going everywhere...

That is a good point. Right about now, the water should be mucky with filth and nastiness and all things grimy, even if Fionna's head is always covered. But whether Ooo is full of enough mutations where that does not happen (and its entirely possible given the war) or the magic qualities of Fionna's hat, her hair seems perfectly clean.

"Uh...I thought about it?" She said sheepishly.

If the water had been so contaminated, Amamiya would have been flipping the fuck out. But there didn't seem to be any damage done that she could see, so instead she stood up and stepped out of the water. "You have to clean your whole body before entering the bath water," she said, in a slightly scolding tone. "Here, come on out and I'll help you clean your hair."

There was no way Fionna would be able to do so on her own.

Darn it, here she was AGAIN putting the wrong foot forward! Even she should have realized that she should have gone and cleaned herself before she went into this thing! Of course, even that in itself was sort of a lie: Fionna had thought that a Onsen was a bath, just a public one. Of course the water was relaxing, but shouldn't you be able to bathe yourself?

Apparently not.

"Um, ok," she said, looking sheepish. "I...I sorta messed up."

Amamiya sighed. "Don't worry about it," she said. "You look very...American, and I understand they probably do things differently where you're from. And, well, no real harm done. It won't kill us."

"Very...what?" Yeah, Fionna has absolutely NO idea what you're talking about there, knowing little to nothing about any world but the land of Ooo and its surrounding territories. "I dunno what an Amer-i-can is, but I don't think I'm that. Heck, I'm still learning the ways of all you other chill gals here. Where are you from?"

"Japan," she answered quite simply, "which is the country from which the onsen also hails. Regardless of where you're from, I'll be happy to show you how it's done."

She didn't add so you don't hop into the hot springs all dirty again but guessing it was there wouldn't be difficult.

"Thanks," she said, realizing this was maybe the third person that had come from that place Japan? It must be a pretty popular city, to have so many people from it. "Thanks man. I'm just still getting used to being here, in the queens world, not really getting all of this junk."

She was, of course, indebted to help. "Have you been here long?"

"For more than a year," she said. "I was one of the first to be brought here by the Queen."

She lead Fionna over to one of the stools surrounding the onsen's area. There was a stool, a faucet and showerhead, and some soaps. Also a small basin to be used when larger quantities of water needed to be held. "Have a seat here," she said. "Before we get into the bath, we first wash ourselves out here. It's sort of like a shower, really. That way, the bath's water stays clean."

"A year..." That seemed like a lifetime to Fionna, and was definitely much longer than how she wanted to spend her time here. Even the idea of it gave her the shivers. "And were ya mad, that she took you away from guys and stuff?"

It was a question she was even asking herself: how angry was she, really, to be away from it all? She did hate a lot of it, but there were other PEOPLE here, she didn't feel like some kind of rare object.

She sat, looking abashed. "Uh, sorry, I don't really do stuff like this in my world."
