As a good hostess with tons of energy to spare, Subaru is everywhere doing everything. Serving the food, prepping the rooms, checking on the hot springs, maybe even having a drink or two late into the evening. She wants to make sure people are having a good time!

Subaru's been at this since the crack of dawn. Doesn't she ever stop?

Fionna was still trying to wrap her head around this hot springs thing. Wasn't that why you took a bath, or went swimming? But of course she wasn't going to begrudge actual food, or the idea of actually being able to do something relaxing. If she was supposed to be kidnapped, apparently this queen didn't mind giving them at least something to keep them happy.

Sure beat being kidnapped by the Ice Queen.

She walked into the Inn, still not sure what to expect. She was still wearing that dress thing because she had no idea how to make her own clothing yet.

"Hello?"

"Hi, there!" She approaches from the side where she had been waiting for newcomers. Subaru is dressed in a simple blue yukata, herself, and has a bright smile on her face. "I'm glad you could make it."

A brief glance over the girl tells her a few things. "I hope it wasn't too bad outside, with the snow." She had tried to keep a clear path to the front door...

WOW. That was pretty! Granted, she'd seen many different outfits in Ooo, but never something quite like this. For a moment, and just a small moment, she could see only a little why the queen would bring them all here: not for the relationships biz, but all their cool stories and traditions.

Then she remembered she'd been kidnapped, and brushed that idea RIGHT out of her head. Seriously, who did stuff like that?

"Nah, I've gone through places with a lotta snow before. My enemy lives in an ice fortress and stuff. So...what are you wearing? We don't have that where I live?

Getting to learn about different places was definitely a bonus. If only more people were excited about finding a way out, this knowledge could go that much farther...

"A fortress made of ice? That sounds cold and scary!" Subaru holds up arms, fingers clinging to the sleeves. "This? It's called a yukata. Since the inn is fashioned in a Japanese style, I thought it would be nice to wear something fitting." Another look over the girl, and a gesture to one of the side walls. "If you want to try one out, there are plenty here in different sizes."

"It is a pretty creepy place, actually," Fionna said, wrinkling her nose. "And its got one of the creepiest chicks there too. She's a lot like this queen, except she's all insane and goes and kidnaps dudes instead of girls."

Fionna looked startled. "M-me? In that kinda thing? Really? I dunno..."

Subaru's eyes widen a bit. "That sounds terrible! I hope someone was able to do something about her." Or at least save the people she kidnapped. She'll come back to the clothes in a minute; priorities and all.

"That was my job!" Fionna said proudly. "I'm a hero: anytime something happens in Ooo, I'm there to stop it, with Cake! I was saving dudes and beating Ice Queen down all the time! I just hope things aren't going too bad in Ooo, but people kept sayin' that I'm supposed to be brought back to just when I go missing, so..."

She's still wrapping her head around everything.

She listened, feeling a bit more at ease with the girl's confidence, with her expression softening as well. "I see. Then I'm sorry the Queen just up and brought you here like that, from your land of... 'Ooo', you said?"

"It's not the worse thing in the world, seeing new people and things," Fionna said. "I'm an adventurer, that's what I do anyway. But surrounded only be girls? That's pretty new to me. Most of my friends are righteous dudes, and now I won't be able to even see them here. Well...I mean, I do sorta, but they're girls now! That's so weird!"

She nodded. "Yup, from Ooo, last human and everything!"

Subaru giggled a bit, nodding in agreement. "It's weird in a lot of ways, but you're right - things could be worse." That said, she sighed a bit and reached up with her hand to place a loose fist against her chest. "A lot of us have business we need to take care of back home, just like you. I don't trust things to just be 'fine' without us there to see things through."

Then she stopped and stared. "The... last human?"

Fionna could tell already that she would like Subaru. She was nice, she seemed strong, and even though she hadn't told her what she did for a living, she could still see she was a fighter somehow. How she could tell this Fionna couldn't exactly say, but there was something righteous and steadfast about this girl.

"Me neither man, I want to get back home as soon as I can! There are a lot of things in Ooo that can get pretty bad without heroes, and I'm one of them!"

So was Billie, of course, but she would leave off her starry eyed thoughts of the beloved hero for another day.

"Yup, the last human. The others died in a war a long time ago."

She has entertained thoughts of the loss of human life several times in the past; it just goes hand-in-hand with her profession. But nothing on such a grand scale. Her expression visibly sinks and even her voice loses a lot of its punch. "I'm... I'm really sorry to hear that." Sure, they hunted down technology and magic relics from civilizations long since gone, on planets that either fell into ruin or were utterly destroyed by those same forces, or by the greed of those who would try to claim them

"It happened before I was born though," Fionna said, "so I can't really be too broken up about it. But you're right, its really weird seeing all these other human people around. They've gone to school and they've never heard of talking animals and junk. I think they think I'm lying when I tell them about Ooo, but what the hay? The truth's the truth."

Nothing would change that, right? "Anyway, if I'm here, I can find some way to still do awesome things, right? I'm an adventurer, and I help beat up evil in my world. There's gotta be evil who's buns I can kick here!"

Yup, she was electing to go with optimism here.

At part of that, she smiles a bit bigger. "I know some talking animals - though they would probably be offended if I put it like that. They're what we call 'familiars' back home, and they can actually change their bodies to look more human, too." Explaining Arf and Zafira isn't all that easy.

"Hehe, maybe so! I mean, there have been some problems in the past with monsters and things, but most of the time it stays peaceful." Which is preferable to getting to know people, even if the fighting helps bring out the capabilities of others in times of crisis.

"See, I knew it wasn't just me!" Fionna said, relieved. "I keep gettin' funny looks every time I tell peeps I was raised by taking cats! How is that any weirder than being brought here? I'm still trying to get why we get kidnapped to a place like this. Usually there's cages, and no one is trying to make you feel at home. At least, that's how the Ice Queen does it."

Fionna shook her head. "So there are things that go around attacking people! I knew it wasn't quiet for long!" Rather than look bothered by this though, Fionna actually has a gleam in her eye. "What sorta monster have you had to fight?"
