[ Madoka was well aware what today meant, of course--but, she hadn't expected to receive anything for today. No, she hadn't mentioned her birthday to any of her friends. Really, all Madoka wanted was something she got everyday.
And that was to be happy with the people she cared about.
Even though... it certainly wouldn't be the same without her family here.
Entering the apartment she shared with Homura, she calls out-- ] I'm home.
whoops just noticed htmlheartovertimeOctober 8 2011, 20:20:00 UTC
[It's way too early...
Homura was going to hide the cake for later and clean everything up before Madoka got home, but writing with the frosting took some extra care. Even if she could stop time, it would seem kind of awkward to do that here, even if her magic doesn't deplete itself as it would back home. With the warm smell in the air, Madoka will probably notice anyway.
It's with a light sigh that Homura gives up on that, stepping towards the doorway into the main room of the apartment to lean out, still wearing her apron, and now a smile.] Welcome home, Madoka.
[ Madoka's face brightens. ] Good afternoon, Homura-chan.
[ Though, she pauses upon seeing the apron. Not to mention... something smelled good. ] ... Were you cooking? [ She tilts her head a bit in curiosity. ]
[Taking the hand, Homura turns back into the kitchen, guiding Madoka's way. Though the kitchen is obviously still not cleaned up and still in a state of use, on the counter sits a cake which looks very much like a finished product and not just a work in progress.
It's certainly not a large cake in the slightest, but more than enough to cut into a handful of healthy-sized slices to share. The pink details and red strawberries contrast against the main white frosting, even if the writing might be just a little sloppy. Writing with it wasn't quite as easy as with a pen, after all.
[ Madoka's eyes widen at the site before her. It was.... to say the least, touching that Homura remembered her birthday when she hadn't been expecting anything, and even moreso when she hadn't mentioned that her birthday was coming up. ] Homura... chan...
[ She looks to her with a joyful expression on her features, shaking her head. Her thoughts were evident on her face, to say the least ] No-- I didn't even think anyone would remember my birthday... [ She smiles ] Thank you.
N, No--its not your fault that I came home early. .... Thank you, Homura-chan. [ She steps closer to the cake and then looks to her again ] It feels a little more like home like this. Mama would make a huge cake for me like this, too.
And that was to be happy with the people she cared about.

There's no way I would forget, Madoka... [She gives Madoka's hand a light squeeze.]
H-Happy birthday...
Sorry, it doesn't have candles or anything just yet, but... that shouldn't take very long to get ready.

[But first, the cake...
Letting go of Madoka's hand, Homura reaches for the candles, to prepare the cake as they talk.]
