A Later Birthday

Xion has been out and about all day, and now that she's returned home, something looks...different. What's going on? She heads up the stairs, looking around curiously.

Alfimi spots Xion, and waits until she gets inside. "Happy Birthday, Xion!" She jumps up and cheers, full of energy.

She pauses, confused.

"Happy....Birthday? But I don't have a--" Yet Alfimi looks so happy, she doesn't want to ruin it.

"Um, thank you--what's all this?"

[alchemistsquery]

"Don't have a...?" Alfimi has no clue.

"This is a party! For you! Because we all really like you a whole lot, Xion!"

"A...birthday...but..."

She feels her face color, though she's not entirely sure why. This feeling...she's so happy she thinks she might explode.

"For me? I...thank you, I don't know what I did, but thank you so much--"

She hugs the other girl impulsively, tightly.

"But... Sora knew it... somehow..." Alfimi shows some confusion on her face, especially given that she doesn't know when her own birthday is. But it's not enough to put a dent in her enthusiasm.

"You don't have to do anything. You're my friend, and I want to make you happy. So does everyone else here!"

Alfimi returns the hug. She feels like she has Xion to thank for all of the good things that have happened to her since she came to this place. If she can give Xion even a fraction of the happiness she feels, then it's worth it.

Sora did? Xion isn't going to doubt her. She doesn't want to protest anymore; she's too overwhelmed by the thought that all of this is for her.

"I am! I'm really happy!" The feeling rivals what she felt when Sora told her her feelings were the same...she feels full and warm and brimming with energy. She wants everyone else to feel this way.

"This is the best. Birthday parties are wonderful. Oh. Oh yes. ...Um... I made a present for you... that's what you do for birthdays, right? I want to give it to you now, but I'm not sure if that's how I do it..."

"A...a present? Really?" The party would have been enough for her, but she certainly won't turn down a present. "But I didn't get anyone anything...ah, I'm sure it's okay if you just do what feels right."

[alchemistsquery]

"You give people presents on your birthday, too?" Alfimi puzzles this out. Her memories from Excellen on the matter are extremely foggy and vague. "Oh well. You can get me a present on my birthday, if you want."

She hands Xion a box with a ribbon on it. "This is for you!"

"I don't know, it just seems like the right thing to do...if someone gives you something. Ah--okay. When's your birthday?"

She receives the box excitedly.

"Thank you! Should...I open it now?"

"That is true... My birthday?" She pauses. "I... don't know. No... people... where around when it... happened."

"Oh yes. Please go ahead and open it!" She smiles.

"Oh...well...we can think of one for you! That's what Sora said I could do."

She pries off the ribbon carefully, not wanting to tear it. She'll probably keep it with just as much reverence as the gift itself. She peers inside the box curiously.

The delay was because I wanted to draw the outfit XD

Inside is a strange, frilly dress with a hood.

"I made it with dirt! ...It took me a lot of tries until I got it how I wanted." She looks excited and then a little worried. She'd never given anyone a gift before. Did she do it right?

"Alfimi..."

Xion touches the fabric almost reverently. "You made it...just for me. Thank you--thank you so much!"

"You're welcome. It... it felt really good to make something for someone." Especially someone so special to her.

"I like giving presents."
