Notes: Happy birthday weekend, J~
Also, I always write log starters in prose, but it's fine to move to action. Uuuh a tentative tagging order should probably be Jackie, Dom, Seph, Reeve, but feel free to jump hop and skip around as much as you like, I honestly have the *utmost* faith that we can handle being freeform 8'|
The world does not stop, simply because she is in hiding. The days do not stop moving, simply because she has failed to notice their comings and goings. It is not an unfamiliar sensation, she has lived through gloomier days, and she had been alone. Dominique is here to poke and prod at her: to eat, to get up for just a little while, sit in this chair by the window, to shuffle into a shower, or just to wrap arms around and lie with silently.
She's long since given up on trying to drive Dominique away from her. It had never worked, she had always come back with soft expressions and quiet concern, always made Jackie feel absolutely monstrous about running away. There was always guilt in it, guilt for her cruelty, but this time there is... more than she will admit to. She curls around that certainty, that hurt, and she is grieving but unrepentant. Grieving and always so painfully aware of how little she deserves the care, but she accepts it.
She hears Dominique moving and breathing in the other rooms, living and always tempting Jackie to join her, and letting no one else rush her to it. Jackie hears how many people come to her door, the feeling is far from comforting. It makes her feel sick, thinking about all the possible questions she will not want to answer, all the voices that will speak like she has some obligation to reply because they decided to waste their time being concerned.
She meets with a few. She trusts Sasha implicitly, and when she comes with her bruises, Jackie is stirred out of bed long enough to look after her, to growl her into a shower. Ellie is not so easy, but Dominique would not let the girl hurt her. Hah. That's not pathetic at all, is it...
A few tiny meetings, obligations Jackie deigns to keep. But there are others, promises to be kept even if she is often such a liar about what she truly intends. Dominique won't let her go anywhere alone, and Jackie is too tired to lie and so she tells her what it is she wants. They don't fight about it, they just get ready and head out across the Garden, slow and steady because it has been several weeks since Jackie was last on in her feet, last in the sun.
