The phantoms no longer remained in the Garden. The Queen's burden had left a deep inflicted mark on Gabrielle-she was used to ghosts, used to someone from her past haunting her, but it was far too much for her to see Rebecca. Far too much to know that she wasn't real, it was only the vicious tongue of the Queen's demands taunting her with her loneliness.
She remembered her discussion with Fela, with the disappearance of the memories that were not hers-or rather were hers, but did not belong to the universe she once existed in. They were far off memories... of death, or being in love, things she cannot remember, but things that she could not forget about. She assumed that Aya and Eve changing the past was how it all begin, but she wondered why, of all times, was she starting to remember now?
The dreamwalker's firm words stuck with her: Think on it. Gabrielle had thought on it, the disappearance of memories she could not piece together, of moments that felt real, of dreams of girls in masks and someone to spend the rest of her life with. It felt disconnected, but she knew that there was no way for anyone to have the answers to those memories. Even Aya.
Which was why Gabrielle had decided to invite Fela over for lunch, to discuss the removal of these memories at hand. They were nothing more than stories created by someone else-the universe (in it's swirling chaos) as the author. It wasn't something Gabrielle wanted to do at once, but there was a warm trust with Fela about the woman's own work; she knew Fela would know what was best for her and her tired mind.
As she brews the tea and waits for her guest, she stands on her balcony, cigarette in hand (and of course,
dressed for the occasion), she keeps her eyes trained on the Gardens below.
