I'm a detective.

For certain values of detective, at least.

So, you're... a detective in training?

Something like that.

I take notes.

Oh, you're an apprentice.

Sure. I can work with that.

I have some great teachers.

Well, beats my experience in that field!

So, should I just call you Bat, or what?

Batgirl!

As if that last bit wasn't a given, with this place. Can you give me a quick run-down of what you already know? I've only been here three days, and have a huge backlog of stuff to read, listen to and watch.

That's a weird name.

Well, the Queen of Hearts runs this place, and made it, too. And she has a team of people - the High Priestess, the Damsel, the Warrior Princess, and the Vamp. There might be more. Other than that, the animals seem to run the place, sort of.

If you explore too far out, the world will sort of cave in on you. And you'll black out. And you'll get dragged back by a wolf.

Buildings we find don't stay in one place, they teleport around from one day to the next.

The Queen of Hearts is very powerful, but not all that bright.

The High Priestess mentioned something about the anchors being stable, and the Queen got very upset.

Batwoman was taken, and it's kind of a legacy thing. I didn't pick the name, it picked me, etc, etc.

Thanks for the info. I'll have to test #2 out for myself, and I've already seen #3 in action. #4 I don't want to test out just yet, and #5 seems like a good place to start investigations.

So there's a whole family of people just calling themselves Bat-something...?

I guess that's better than me thinking someone actually named you Batgirl when you were born.

The anchors thing is really all we have to go on.

Yup. As you can imagine, we're all highly functional.

I'm wondering how literal these anchors are. 'cause if this thing turns out to be a ship, well, even I can't take a plot twist that shocking. And I'm not sure I want to know where we'd end up if whatever they are are destroyed.

The only idea I've got is maybe the people the Queen has are the anchors. Like a magical bond to the land.

Not the worst idea in the world.

Testing it out, though... any idea where the Queen resides? I haven't seen any castles around here. Am I missing something? I bet I'm missing something.

Not a clue!

So, we've got you on detective, and now we need a tracker.

Great.

I've got some actual tracking devices from back home with me.

Any good?

I don't know. Are they magic or electronic?
