[The mirror comes to life to show a pale young woman with long dark hair sitting in a bed of flowers, thin legs splayed awkwardly underneath her. She doesn't not look particularly concerned with her new surroundings, despite the white frock hanging off her skeletal frame marking her as a new arrival ( Read more... )

Your house...? U... Uhm... Were you away from it for a very long time--

But--! I can bring food for you, if you'd like!

I was away, yes. I do not know how long. Time is strange, here.

[Zinc's speech is a little slow and stilted, like she has work a bit too hard to get her words out. She had been shot in the head when she died, she was not at her quickest.

She tilts her head at this wide-eyed girl, wonders if she should really ask her to bring some food, or if that will just freak her out...]

I can only eat... certain things. Meat, uncooked.

[She would prefer to eat some human, but that was a bit uncouth.]

[ She has a slightly uneasy feeling about this. Though, she seems very nice, so Madoka doesn't hesitate for too long before responding ]

A... Ah. So, you were sent home...? Welcome back--oh, but maybe you didn't want to come back like some others have... In that case, I'm sorry.

We might be able buy some.

[Zinc was never very good with children, but she bites her tongue and listens to the girl's rambling chatter. Zinc reminds herself that Xion was a little girl and she was one of the best friends she had. It was no good discounting them because they were young.]

I am happy, to be back. I have friends here.

[And she didn't have any back home. Because she hadn't been a particularly nice lady before she died.]

And the bears at the arena, will give meat. Have you been here long?

[Maybe she didn't know about the arena...]

Then, that's great. ... Friends can help to make others feel at home no matter where they are. [ she should know ]

They will? ... Oh--I've been here for over six months. It doesn't feel like it's that long though, somehow...

When I arrived, the first time... Jessica gave me, hmm... instructions, a little booklet of them, about the Garden.

So we went to the arena. The bears guard the meat, and bring it out, when you ask.

[Her voice goes a little dry as she explains it. She thinks bears guarding meat and chopping it up with knives was really really stupid. She did not strictly approve of all the silly Disneyland things that went on this place.]

Eheh. Everyone seems really quick to try to explain the gardens to others that are new here. It's really great.

O... Oh. The animals are really helpful here, aren't they?

Learning keeps them busy, I think.

[Zinc murmurs that distractedly. It was something she understood well. Keeping busy was the only thing that stopped her from losing it.]

The animals are... the Queens, they do what she tells them to.

[ A thoughtful pause on Madoka's end ] M... Mm. If that's true, then... Maybe Queen-san is nicer than we think she is.

[Laffo. Zinc's face scrunches up incredulously in response to that.]

Maybe. If crazy is nice.

B... But... the animals have all been very kind.

I don't think... they can do anything else.

[Maybe they got tossed in the Labyrinth like everyone else.]

But... Even though they're our friends...? Do you really think that Queen-san is bad if they're being controlled by her? Even so... Controlling anyone is cruel--e... even if her intentions might not be bad....

[She looks away quietly. She preferred the Garden because in her own home, she was ruled over by someone she loved. He did not intend to be cruel, but he couldn't help it.]

There is no such thing, as good and bad.

... That might be true. And that's part of why... I don't think Queen-san is doing all of this to be mean.

[That sharp look of amusement crosses Zinc's expression again.]

No good or bad, but plenty of inconvenience.
