[It's almost irritating, the way Excellen responds, but Vanille laughs as easily as she cries, and the corners of her mouth turn up. She huffs out a breath, half chuckle and half exasperated sigh.]

Is that really what you miss the most?

My sweet little vanilla cupcake, of course not!

[recalls]

[She settles back against the tree, and her melancholy returns as if it had never left.]

Then, what do you really miss?

I miss my friends--Kyosuke, Bullet, Kusuha, Lamia, and everyone else. I miss my Weissy and all my toys. There's a lot of stuff I miss!

[recalls]

If everything you missed was here, and then it was gone again, what would you do?

Cry. A lot--until I'm all dry. Then I'd go and find things I miss that are right here.

[recalls]

[It's a sort of permission to Vanille, to hear that Excellen would cry, too. She holds back from sobbing outright, though it's a near thing, and just quietly lets the tears fall.

It's only a moment before she wipes her eyes, embarrassed, and gives Excellen a watery smile.]

What do you mean, find things you miss that are right here?

Hmm, what do I mean? It's hard to explain. Maybe you should go find Fang and ask her. She'll know.

[recalls]

[She nods.] I will.
