[The familiar scene takes place―another apartment that is not hers, remaining with only the things the occupant has left behind. This time, Gabrielle is in the kitchen, sifting through the cabinets, as the vine slithers up to her. At first, she does not acknowledge it in favor of keeping herself occupied with the contents of said cabinet ( Read more... )

Are you Monsigny-san? Tomoe-san told me about your apartments.

If it's not too much trouble, I'd like to stay in the furnished room you mentioned. I don't have very much money saved up, but I'm sure I should be able to meet rent fees, at least monthly ones.

[She gives a nod, glad to hear that Mami is suggesting her apartments. As she crosses her arms, her lips curl into an amused smile.]

How about I give you the room for free?

For free? Really, you would do that for me? [She positively lights up at the offer. She doesn't have any of her possessions, but a home is a home.] Thank you very much!

Then I can at least help tidy up or cook meals, if you'd like anything in return. Is there a time I can come over to move in?

Money isn't really required here in the first place, anyway. Maintenance isn't that hard when I have the birds to help me, a room is easy to furnish when you can use the magic dirt to make everything, there's no real need to have people pay rent when they can live perfectly fine without it.

You're welcome to move in any time you'd like. The building isn't that hard to find―I'm sure you'll notice when you see it, but if you need directions I can come meet you somewhere.

Then, I'll be over shortly!

[Or so she says, and the feed is cut off. Not too long afterwards, there is a polite knocking from the front of the complex, and a girl with nothing but the clothes on her back.]

[Gabrielle―looking as professional as ever―reaches to open the door with a smile. The lobby is fairly large, resembling those of a typical Manhattan complex, tiled floors, walls paneled with wood, a dark leather couch with a table beside it, the lobby desk simple and minimalist.]

[A friendly greeting, as she extends her hand.]

It's a pleasure to meet you, Miss Misonoo.

[She warmly takes the hand, smiling earnestly in return.] It's a pleasure to meet you, Monsigny-san. Thank you, again.

[She glances around the lobby―much larger than she had been expected. It's bigger than her living room at home, although not as cozy. But she'll fix that, in time.]

This is the lobby, as you can probably tell― [She motions a hand at the room.] ―If you ever need me, I will most likely be at the front desk, but if you can't find me here, then my room is on the fifth floor.

[She walks toward the elevators, a gentle laugh escapes her.] It's a Manhattan style complex. Something that sticks out like a sore thumb in the Garden, but reminds me of my own world.

[She follows her, politely looking around before stopping in front of the elevator doors.] It looks lovely, no matter what style; although I've never seen a Manhattan-style building before.

Which floor am I on?

[As the doors slide open, she motions Nanako to go in first.]

Sixth. All of Jules' things are still there, you're more than welcome to keep and get rid of what you'd like. Word of warning though- [She reaches to press the button; six, the floor right above hers. It seems to odd to her that she will no longer be able to visit Jules. It was such a ritual for them that she can't help but feel a little bit discouraged, a little bit more lonelier.] -third floor is off limits.

[She steps inside the elevator, listening patiently. She isn't sure how much she likes the idea of being surrounded by someone's former belongings, but it's preferrable to having no furnishings at all. Besides, it would feel wrong to throw anything away that someone once cherished.

But before she can reply, something else she says distracts her.]

Off limits? [She can't help thinking back to that high room in the tower. The knives gouged deep into the wall. The chalk silhouette.]

A tenant requested that she get the entire third floor. Considering how empty this place is―fifteen stories high, far too many rooms to count―I saw no problem with it.

[The entire floor? that's an awful lot for one tenant, but she's relieved the reason is as simple as that, nothing as terrible or foreboding as she had imagined. Still, that's rather selfish of one tenant to take up so much, but as long as they aren't in demand, it can't do much harm.]

Normally, I'd like to fill it with my own things, but I really didn't bring anything with me. Won't Jules-san want to collect her own possessions?
