[She's let the vine approach her, not such a common occurrence these days, but it is what it is. She's sitting on a bed with her back to the room as the vine approaches, staring up at something on the wall ( Read more... )

[Reeve smiles her usual smile, giving a glance of interest to the dreamcatcher.]

You're looking well-- I do find those things fascinating. However they work!

Yes, I think we've all had enough of gardening for now. Considering a new hobby?

[Oh... she knows this one. It's a little odd considering how much time she spends pretending no one else exists.]

...Hello, Reeve. [That's all she has to say to that 'looking well' comment.]

I'm not sure what else to do, besides pull out my hair, maybe.

[Crazy lady humor, maybe. Her dry tone suggests it, anyway.]

[Reeve raises an eyebrow, but doesn't offer criticism. She knows very well by now that it's just how Jackie is-- or how she prefers to be seen to be. It amounts to the same thing. She gives a wry sort of smile, dry humor is among her favorite sorts of humor.]

I don't think that sounds nearly as productive or fun, but to each their own, I suppose. Of course, you could always come for tea-- or coffee.

[It would make Jackie unhappy to know her act was so easily seen through. Then again, she's pursued the facade of bitterness with such vigor, it may as well be the truth.]

...I could. [Her mouth opens, halfway to telling Reeve that maybe the coffee wasn't necessary, because she had been sleeping and she had been eating. But then she remembers that some people just drink it out of enjoyment, rather than to try and smother their body's weaknesses in the acerbic taste and strong smell.] I'm sure Dom would like it if I fucked off for a little while.

[It isn't true, no matter how much Jackie thinks of herself as a burden.]

[Reeve smiles. She likes Jackie's blunt way of talking-- at home, her every interaction is so finessed. It also doesn't hurt that she's hard to offend.]

Then by all means. Come over any time you like! I'm on my own today, probably well into the evening.
Well, apart from my little mechanical friends.

[She nods quietly, trying to hide the uncertainty she feels. She isn't going to humor that fear, is always rough and impatient with her own weaknesses, shows little quarter for them in others either.]

I'll be by then...

[She hasn't been out anywhere without Dominique in several months now. It takes her a while, to get herself ready, she's unnecessarily meticulous about it, but the ritual makes her feel ready, as if she has everything under control.

Dominique doesn't let her go without a fuss, wants to know when she's made it, and when she's on her way back, but she listens to Jackie's desire to make the walk alone, pushes a water bottle in her hand and kisses her on the forehead.

It's a bit of a walk, but Jackie does better with it this time than she had before. Some food and some rest did wonders for a body.]

[There isn't much to tidy up, but Reeve gives it a shot anyhow. She also puts the kettle on-- as well as the coffee pot. When Jackie does come to the door, it's already open. Reeve likes to leave it propped so that the smaller of her robots can come and go as they please. She hasn't gotten around to constructing a robot flap just yet.]

Come is, it's open! Which you can probably tell. I'll be right in.

[She steps around one of those little robots on her way in, frowning at it curiously.]

I see you're not terribly concerned about robbery.

[No, she can never make pleasant jokes.]
