011 Sister [video]

[The Vine opens on a setting that is uncharacteristic of the Gardens. It appears to be a dimly lit laboratory. The walls are pale gray, with dark screens that flicker with green, displaying data that may or may not be meaningless. There is a low humming, from the lights or machinery. In the background, there is another sound--faint, but sharper ( Read more... )

Babysitting, huh. You don't seem the type. You tried knocking her out yet?

I have little experience with this kind of situation, yes.

I've put her to sleep several times, but that is only a temporary measure.

She seems a bit more temperamental than other kids I've run across. Why's she so riled up?

[Sephiroth considers. She's not certain what Kadaj is or why she's upset.] I don't believe she is a child. She is unwell, and violently angry over events I have no knowledge of.

Crazy and angry. Not a good combination. If knocking her out's not helping, and I bet you don't want to fight her...why not find out if there's something she wants?

No, not a good combination at all. And you're right. I did put her to sleep to avoid combat.

Primarily, she wants to be released, and to be reunited with her mother. I'm unsure of the wisdom of the former, and I can do nothing about the latter.

Having a temper tantrum over her mother sounds like a kid to me, no matter how old she is. Keeping her locked up might be for the best if she's dangerous. As for calming her down...I've got no idea if you don't want to knock her down a few pegs. What kinda connection do you have with her?

She does act like a child sometimes, but at other times less so. She is--unusual. Keeping her contained seems the best course of action for now, though I can't do so indefinitely.

[Sephiroth is still wary of Kadaj's claim and unsure of what to make of it.] She says we share the same mother.

If she's dangerous, the cronies that work for the Queen might get a hold of her once you let her go. [a lazy shrug.] And the Labyrinth's no picnic. That could settle her down or make her worse. [it's not entirely clear if Fang is concerned either way.]

Any family resemblance?

I do not want that to happen. I will do anything in my power to protect her. [She is not quite sure why her feelings on the matter are so strong, but she states this calmly.]

The resemblance is striking. Unmistakable, especially as I have never met anyone else who is similar to me in appearance.

Sounds like family to me. I'd say keep talking to her, try to get her to settle down. The way I see it, there's not much else you can do.

I've never had a family. I suppose that must be what this is.

I'll continue to do so, but I fear I might be agitating her further, without intending to. She's very upset with me.

Shame your first meeting's turning out like this, then.

Why is she mad at you?

[She nods.] It's still difficult for me to believe.

[Sephiroth pauses slightly before answering the question.] She says I let her die.

I'd be thrown for a loop too. It's a lot to take in.

[Fang's expression sobers.] Sure she's not making it up? You said she wasn't all there.

I wonder how it could have happened.

I'm not sure. I don't see what motivation she'd have to lie about that. Her perception of events could be wrong, but she is so emphatic, I believe something must have happened to leave that impression. She's agitated, but I don't think she's completely divorced from reality.

The only other possibility is that she comes from a world that is like mine, but with some differences. An alternate version.
