[When Mami opens her eyes to find herself upon a bed of flowers instead of inside the belly of a monster, it's impossible for her to think much of it at first.
[Oh, a practical one. Ciel smiles a bit, but it's fleeting.]
Most of the time, this place is what it appears to be: a peaceful garden filled with only women and animals. On occasion, however, there have been... stranger things. The people here have been turned into monsters, some of the roses grow huge and attack, and snow storms that blanket everything in order to conceal vicious monsters.
It sounds like you've been here for awhile, to have witnessed all of that. [not that she sounds particularly disturbed; she's seen her share of horrors.] So this place is...capricious.
[Her voice shifts from clinical and detached to annoyed. This place really pushed her buttons.] I arrived December, and it's now March. It's been much too long for my tastes.
And I suppose "capricious" is as good a word for it as any. Honestly, this place is as mad as that self-made Queen.
[That smile just reminds her of her maid's unchanging expressions, and not in a good way, either. She shakes her head, dismissing the thought.]
At any rate, you'll need somewhere to stay, unless you prefer to brave the outdoors. There are some houses you can stay in over that way... [directions to the necessities go here! \o/]
[Ugh, that smile! It is full of bad associations.]
As I said, most days are peaceful. It doesn't tend to last more than a week, however. I'd expect something to happen again in the next fortnight, so be on your guard.
[Ciel gives a curt, harsh laugh.]
You're not dead. This place and its Queen have revived you.

Yes, it seems that way. [a faint note of...irritation? maybe.]

I assume that you must have questions. [Her expression is an attempt at nonchalance. This is the most obvious offer of help she'll give.]
Reply
Yes, and I'm hoping you have answers. What dangers can I expect this place to throw at me?

In other words, nothing is as it seems.

If this place is made in her image, I can understand why.

Ah, thank you very much! I appreciate this, miss....?

[She gives a small curtsy, almost sarcastic.]
Countess Ciel Phantomhive, of England. And you?

Mami Tomoe, from Japan. But I'm not as esteemed as a countess- just a ninth-grader.

Enjoy your stay, Miss Tomoe. I'm sure it will be interesting, at least.

Oh, I believe you! This place seems to be anything but boring.

Thank you for the warning, Countess. I hope it won't be anything too dreadful....
