[When Mami opens her eyes to find herself upon a bed of flowers instead of inside the belly of a monster, it's impossible for her to think much of it at first.

After all, she had just died ( Read more... )

First off, it's a cat. Unless you can speak it, I don't think you would have gotten an answer.

Second of all, yeah this isn't a dream. But I wouldn't say the dead can't dream, I'd wager a ghost I know could.

Well, the scroll did tell me to ask the cat if I had questions.

I'm not sure that would count in my case, since I've never been a ghost. I would've remembered something like that.

It's never really helped any of us before, besides directions and being a cat.

You may have. A tad pale, but otherwise could easily be mistaken for living. Anyway, if you're trying to say you died, I wouldn't call this the afterlife. If anything, you're probably alive again.

Ah, I see. How.....whimsical.

Yes, I thought I made that rather clear. [not that she's happy about it] I suppose that means this "Queen of Hearts" isn't God, then.

Surprisingly, only the rabbits here are bad.

In a sense, she is, as she is the creator of this place it seems. She could easily be a goddess, in the Shinto religion sense.

How so?

Hm. Would it be futile to try and contact her? I'm not interested in provoking someone like that just yet.

Small nuisances. Even the wolves around here are tame compared to what you may expect.

I would say so. Usually she shows up on her own accord. Also, make no mistake. This is no heaven.

Well, that's a small relief.

I think I can at least readily believe you on that account, by now.

Quite the picture of 'harmony', isn't it?

Well, if it was, I probably wouldn't be here. That's a human thing, if I recall. But I was talking more about the occasional monsters.

Unfortunately, not one that I can trust.

Please go on, miss.

Oh, you can trust some things here.

Well, the most recent one were the flowers. We were all given a flower each, to raise. Those who neglected theirs had their flower lift themselves from the ground and attacked people.

Also, my name is Alice Margatroid.

Thank you, miss Margatroid. I'm Mami Tomoe, since we're exchanging names.

Deadly flowers in a garden....[musing tone; at least that specific situation isn't wholly unfamiliar.]

Alice is fine.

And after a few days, the flowers that were taken care of rose up, threw themselves on the other ones and exploded in an act of sacrifice.

[NOPE.AVI. The distance language is strong with this one.]

Now that's just odd- yet apparently fitting in with the capricious theme of this place.

And then we got medals to commemorate them all. A little grim if you ask me.

Though, it may not mean much to a dead girl.

Apparently I'm not dead anymore [faintest of twitches in her face] though, so it means quite a lot to me that you're willing to share this information.
