Goths are cool. They have bitchin music tastes.

Yeah, I guess goths are okay.

But normal people own goths by a lot.

Normal people are just that, normal. Boring. They bring nothing new to the table.

Are you saying I'm boring, Winky?

&Normal is not a synonym for boring.

I think most "normal" people are pretty fascinating. You just have to listen to what they say. You can't write them off after one glance as "boring", because you haven't talked to them or gotten to know them. You're not giving them a chance.

This leads to my next question.
What is normal?

I was actually leading up to that...

So, Brian, what's your definition of "normal" anyways?

Yes, but then again, I haven't talked to you in ages. But if you are striving to be normal, then there is no possible way you can be interesting.

Don't make so many assumptions. It really doesn't make you look good.

And just in case you don't read my above comment, define "normal" for me...

So what is "normal," then? Because for me, normal just means boring. There is nothing unique about you. You are a face in the crowd. Am I wrong?

Well, in general, normal means average. And average is sometimes good. The average weight for a human being is somewhere around 120-140lbs. Anything above or below it isn't normal, and puts you at a lot more risk of disease and injury.

I am definitely unique. :)
I can prove it by telling you one thing - there is only one of me. I have yet to meet an exact copy of myself. (If you've seen her wandering around somewhere, I'd be rather interested to get in touch with her...)

And, if I am not unique, why do you still visit my journal? Obviously something about me has piqued your interest, or else you'd a) stop reading, b) stop replying and c) stop caring.
If I was boring, there'd be no reason for you to say anything to me. :)

So then what makes you normal? You just said you were unique.

queenoffives October 26 2006, 02:26:57 UTC
Unique is not an antonym for normal.

Just about, yes.
But this is the part where I drop out of the argument, because I hate arguing with you. Your logic makes me want to kill myself with a staple gun.

I think what she's saying is that nowadays 'everyone' says they're unique. So the only way to be unique is to be 'normal'. By calling them self normal, one can finally grow out of the stereotype of 'goth' 'prep' 'jock' 'punk rocker' etc.

She's not saying she wants to be the kind of normal you're thinking of (because that's what everyone else has in mind).

EX:
"I'm not normal" = Everyone says it
"I'm normal" = Like what, two people say this?"
Therefore: 'normal' = 'unique'

And wtf are you doing in journals where no one likes you?
