Sometime back in November I decided that as part of my (silent) list of resolutions I was going to write in my "journal" at least once a day. Not any certain amount, just that at least there is one post per day for me to look back on and can say "Well, hey, that's what I did on this day a year ago" and actually know what the hell I had done.
And considering that my life is about as bland as a piece of toast, I also considered using this motivational tool to help me get out of this five/six year writing slump I've been in. If I'm writing (or in this case, typing) an entry of some sort once a day, then I'm putting forth effort to be creative in one way or another... even if it's ultimately for my own enjoyment. :)
Now that the disclaimer is out of the way, onto a more journal-esque entry, shall we? :P

It's the first day of the first month of a new year. And how did I spend it, you may be asking yourself, journal...? At work. Yes, I rang in the new year on the phone with Joel, at work. While it wasn't the greatest situation, at least I didn't almost sleep through it like last year. ^_^ After all I've been through with my job since my relief was canned, the icing on the cake was being clocked in to see the ball drop in Time Square... >.> And I'm sure I'll bitch enough about my job in entries to come, I won't make that my focus for today's...
While it was the dawning of the new year, my night at work was much the same as it has been. The normal amount of guests for a Saturday night. The normal "energy" of said guests for a Saturday night. Nothing out of the ordinary. Well, that's not exactly true. I did get a 5$ tip for giving a guest a couple of pastries so she wouldn't have to go to Applebee's for food. :) It was no hair off my back to get her a plate with a few pastries on it! She was nice and kept me company the few times we found each other outside for a cigarette. Not really worth a 5$ tip, but hey, it's the Holidays, right? ^_^
The original plan, after Joel and I got off work, was to go to Wal-Mart and get a few groceries for the week and then have Mike and Lindsay over for company. But sometime during the night, while Joel was training, he got sick and all those plans went into the garbage fairly quick. :( /grumble; Now we'll probably wait until Tuesday morning after my ortho appointment... /grumble_then_shrug; I just hate making plans to get an errand done then having to scrap it out of the blue. Since the reason was illness, it's easily forgivable! :P I mention that as I look over to a snoring, non-puking husband...
Which leads me to my next topic: What big things happened to Jess, worth mentioning, in 2011.
In January I began my full-time position as Night Auditor at my hotel. :) First full-time position I've had at any job. I haven't had a whole lot of jobs, mostly because I tended to keep them for years at a time, but they've all been RIGHT UNDER full-time positions. I'd love to say that this full-time position came with added bonuses and insurances, but no. It doesn't. It's barely worth having, but alas, I have to have one to survive.
(At this moment) I can't recall anything life changing happening in February, March, or April, except the departure of our roommate, James. :(
May, June, and July witnessed Joel's birthday (30), Jonathan's birthday (7) and my birthday (26) as well as our summer holiday with Jonathan. <3 In July, I also went back to Arkansas to visit with family and friends for little over a week.
Then tragedy struck in August, two weeks after we sent Jonathan back to his Mom... I broke the fibula in my left leg and dislocated my left ankle rendering me a gimp (still to this day -- not healed even 85%). Was out of work from the end of August, through September, October and November. That was a rough time, not only financially but I hate that I lost myself to self-pity and a touch of depression being confined to the recliner with no real means of getting around save for my rolling computer chair. :( Had a lot of supportive friends and family, got a new roommate (Mike) that helped with the transition, had a cute, pink cast, and a gentle, loving, supportive Joel to help but I still wallowed. Not proud of it, but when you're rendered immobile, something inside breaks... not just bone. :(
Aside of the dark and depressing, there was one VERY BRIGHT beacon of love that came out of November... three things, actually. And all toward the end of the month. First, I was told by my ortho doctor that I could return back to work! Second, and the brightest, Joel and I got married! And third, we finally got a mode of transportation! (All three listed in the order they happened, not by order of importance, mind you!) :P
December, itself, followed the same trend as the Spring had: having no real significance except losing Mike as our roommate. :( Just a month filled with holidays, family, and getting back into the swing of working full-time once again.
2011 was quite the roller coaster of a year -- nothing I'm not surprised about by any means, but still a year that will be forever etched into my memory like the scar on the side of my left leg where the doctor fused my bones back together with a metal plate... it isn't going to be easily forgotten. :P
I hope, hope, hope that 2012 brings more happiness than tears, that's for damn sure!

One major hobby I'm considering for a project for this year (that will probably come to fruition after Joel and I have moved apartments no later than the end of March) is starting a World of Warcraft related podcast. My friend, Corey, does one on the mounts available in WoW called
Mount Up. But I'm wanting to go in a different direction but with a relatively interesting WoW-topic. More information will be posted in the next coming months, but until we get moved into our new place (no later than the end of March) I won't be putting too much time into this project... not yet, at least. ^_^
But with that, I'm going to end this entry.
And to those reading this, have a great day and good luck with your resolutions getting past January!
