Crepes for breakfast on Christmas Day. My hubby brought this one in and it works perfectly for me because I love crepes and he cooks them (score one for the tired ass mom on the couch after being up half the night playing santa).
Gifts for Santa...and Santa writes back when you write to him. This one started when I became a mom and will proabably stop soon as my offspring are too damn logical for their own good. I think that believing in santa is hard to maintain when you do not believe in a higher power and explain to the children why you think god does not exist. They are part of the same faith bubble...
The christmas spider! We have a christmas spider in our tree and he disappears on christmas eve only to show back up on christmas day with a tinsel web all over the tree. I love that story...and the spider is pretty cool too. We have had him since I was a kid.
New Year's eve sugar binge. This is the one day a year that my organic eating, no refined sugar having children can binge on Oreos, Doritos, Twinkies and anything else that makes a 7 year old's mouth water. It starts at 5 pm when we hit the unhealthy grocery store (fondly referred to as our dealer) and get the junk. I always make fluffernutters to get the heart racing and the sugar high properly worked up. We then stay up as late as our pancreas holds out and then sleep in the next day.
The SPAM! There is always a can of spam under the tree for someone. This can always gets passed around at holidays and can even be found at adult birthday parties. It is often disguised under heavy wrapping and sometimes includes a layer of duct tape (see: bad gifts in large boxes or great gifts that you just have to work for). Last year was Spam with Cheese! This year I have spam with the "keep fresh" plastic container to go with it.
