So I never really wanted to learn Spanish. I mean I did the Spanish thing in high school because it was required and for a time I thought it was great in Chicago when I lived there because I knew a lot of Spanish-speaking individuals. I never, however, had a burning desire to learn the language. When I did my first stint in college right after I graduated, I took German for a semester. I remember a few words, but things just weren't good then so... yeah.
There are two languages I have always wanted to learn and those were French and Italian. I'd love to learn Greek too, but they don't offer that at HACC. They don't offer Italian either, otherwise I would have been ALL over that one!
I can, however, take French. And I will be! At least I hope because right now classes are showing as closed but registration doesn't open 'til at least Monday for returning students so maybe it's just because of that right now
I had a meeting with my academic adviser today regarding my Spring classes. Originally I had wanted to create the schedule of French 101, Aerobics Fitness (to fulfill my PE/Wellness credit) and Nutrition (to fulfill that credit). I was most worried I wouldn't be able to take French, but I can! Woo!
I will not be taking Nutrition this coming semester however. I have to take Math 051 in order to take Chemistry, which I need to get into my next set of Biology courses. So I will be taking Math, Aerobics and French in the Spring, Chemistry and Speech in the summer, Biology 121 in Fall 2012 along with Dental Hygiene 100 and Nutrition. And somewhere between now and January/February 2014, I need to get in 40 hours of shadowing at a dental office.
It's odd to know that I still have at least just over 2 years before I even can apply for my clinicals. If I get accepted, it'll be another 2-3 years before I get my degree. I knew it would take a bit but wow, looking at it on paper is different.
ETA: What'll be nice is that both French and Math will be online courses and my Aerobics class will only be for a couple hours on Saturday. That'll be good for driving and just time in general for me.
