Today was Gail's fiftieth birthday, so we went over there for cake and ice cream, which was nice because we don't really see Gail often. It seems like she is always working, and when she's not doing that, she's likely exhausted and wanting some alone time. I don't blame her. Either way it was nice to see her, even though she didn't particularly feel well. She liked the cake and decorations that Taylor and Sammy prepared, and the calligraphy set my dad bought for her. I'm glad we had a celebration for her, and that she didn't have to work tonight! I should've brought Dolly over...
Speaking of Dolly, I want to litter-train her so that we won't have to worry so much about the rugs while we're at classes. Most days I am able to get home and walk her at least once around lunch time, but on the days when I can't, you can probably guess where she craps. At least they're usually little poops, though.
This morning was a great workout, mostly because Joel and I got up at 6 a.m. and met my dad at the Y. For one, I'm not typically the type to jump out of bed at that kind of hour to do my workout, so that was a nice little change. Secondly, I haven't worked out with my dad in many years. 'Twas a good idea to invite him, since he'd like to start lifting again. We ended up staying there a little over an hour, and shooting some hoops as well. I was all energized for the day after that, but the thing is, I get another surge of energy in the evening too, so I should really choose between the two times as far as my daily workout. Otherwise I'll be doing it twice a day, which might not be the greatest idea since I'm already lacking in sleep. That's one area of my life that needs a ton of work--my sleep schedule. It's relatively normal compared to a few years back, but I still wake up pretty consistently at three or four in the morning every day. Not only is it hard to go back to sleep after that--I usually don't even fall asleep until after midnight. So my total amount of sleep for the night ends up being somewhere between four and six hours usually. Argh. That can't be normal.
I went down to Aggie's to visit Judy last night as promised. Of course, I brought Dolly down and she did circles when she saw Bogie (the male Bichon, basically her "date" for the night). At one point she would mount him and go right at it, but now she knows better. I don't much see the harm in it though--it's not like she's going to impregnate him. Either way, it's always cute when those two get together, and it's nice to see Judy and hear new things about her life (complicated story, really).
About the sunburn I received the other day--it's mostly a tan now on my arms and legs, but I've got these rosy red cheeks. It kind of looks like I went to a tanning booth, which I have never done, and I'm not sure I would really consider it either. I don't exactly see the point of paying a lot of money for skin damage when the sun's rays are completely free. It seems like regularly going tanning is the same as smoking a couple packs of cigarettes every day--paying for an increased chance of developing cancer. Put simply, it doesn't sound very appealing. Yet, many say we can get cancer from anything, so...c'est la vie.
Review session for Geology was tonight. It seemed really long, but was helpful. I think attending the review sessions makes a significant difference as far as my test grades go.
I'm out--got an 8 a.m. Cervantes class, then the Y, then lunch with Jess, an appointment at the Hair Hut, and EBC meeting at 6 p.m., and Jewish Wisdom class at 7 p.m. Where does all the time go? :-)
