Previous Chapters Chapter 17
Yunho found himself standing in front of the wooden door unable to step closer or move further away. For now he had made up his mind that he needed to be next to Jaejoong, the fact that he had managed to betrayed his spouse’s trust already when he had miraculously managed to trust despite his past. Yunho knew that he didn’t deserve a second chance, and that he ought to stick with his promise to stay away for 10 months, but right now his mind was in a whirlwind.
He was a step away to pull the other into his arms, offer him comfort, far too little and far too late but comfort nevertheless.
The doctor’s words ran clearing his memory “he needs counselling” he looked sombre saying that “and please don’t make him feel insecure in anyway”
Ironically that part was already done Yunho remembered that he had cheated, he was the one who broke his trust enough to bring him to this weary god forsaken part of town.
He felt the pinpricks of sudden tears that rushed to his eyes, the fact that someone’s pain felt more realistic than his own. He couldn’t even begin to imagine how it would have felt like, to go thorough that, felt ashamed that the someone in his life could have suffered so much and he did nothing, knew nothing about it.
The decision of going in was made for him when someone opened the door. Jaejoong stood shocked quiet taken aback by Yunho’s presence. He pulled his sweatshirt closer, even though his stomach was barely visible 7 weeks along and paranoia had set in more than anything.
He looked terrible no doubt, working for more than 15 hours a day, added to that the constant spells of dizziness and nausea made everything terrible. Yunho too looked taken aback to see him, adjust to the fact that Jaejoong looked sicklier than the last time he had seen him and if possible thinner.
“What are you doing here?” Jaejoong made no attempt to hide the hostility in his voice; he was too tired to have a conversation with the man he blamed for the predicament - homeless and carrying.
And nowadays he seemed to be suffering more from later than the former. He could have done with homelessness; he was capable of sustaining himself but another person was a question.
Especially when the other person seemed to have inherited his father’s stubbornness, starting from random cravings and the most inconvenient headaches he had ever experienced.
Before he could interject another statement he felt himself enveloped in Yunho’s warm hands. He would have protested, thrown the other man off spare the intensity with which he was being held and found being comforted by the warmth radiating from the other man.
There was a sort of desperation with which he was being held, so tightly that he couldn’t even breathe.
It was with sudden intensity that realisation sunk in, that even with the slightest movement the other could feel the slight bump, the thought scared him as he pulled free from the other man’s embrace.
There was a part of him that screamed in protest- that he had wrenched free from a man who looked utterly vulnerable and broken. A part of his brain kicked in “are you alright?” he asked in a much softer voice.
Yunho shook his head, surprised at the fact that he was being that he was being comforted when he came here with intent to comfort.
Perhaps it was the cologne Yunho was wearing, or perhaps it was just things in general but the bread that he had forced down made its way back up as he practically shoved Yunho to the floor making his way to the bathroom.
The two cups of coffee and bread came rushing back up and so did the bar of candy. Jaejoong groaned in frustration, even the mouth wash activated his gag reflex as he dry heaved into the sink.
There was barely anything in his system, but his stomach seemed intent on throwing up anything he could manage to get in it. His knees hurt as he barely managed to get up as he pressed his forehead against the cold ceramic of the tub.
He washed his face hastily and managed to get out after a few deep breaths to calm his heavy heart beat. His chalky pallor and dark circles gave away his discomfort more than anything else as Yunho stood anxiously outside the bathroom door wondering what was wrong.
Jaejoong stumbled his way out “I am fine” he said stubbornly before Yunho could get a word out. He wondered what excuse he could come up with to distract his husband from the imminent and impending questions. Yunho however calmly handed him a glass of water and a pillow.
“I have to go” he said wearily checking the clock, “I just started my work there and I can’t take a day off”
“We should go to a hospital” was all Yunho said, by the thin line of his lips Jaejoong knew Yunho was extremely angry.
But he had no right to be angry Jaejoong thought, he was the one doing multiple part time jobs and carrying what seemed like a stubborn imbecile while he was the one who cheated.
“There is nothing wrong with me” his tone was cold and clipped “and even if I were it is none of your concern”
The last line was what threw Yunho over the edge, he stood up abruptly “what the hell do you mean Jaejoong?” he fingers curling into a fist “I am sorry I said I am sorry how the bloody hell can I show I am sorry when you don’t even let me come near you?”
Jaejoong seemed unaffected by Yunho’s display of anger, his own rage flowing off in cold waves “Yes Yunho cause sorry solves everything in this world” he said “because your apology is going to solve everything”
“Fine” Yunho said “my apology isn’t going to solve anything, what else do I do?” desperation evident in his voice “you look so sick Jaejoong” he pleaded “please just come back”
Jaejoong let himself sink into the warmth that Yunho’s arms offered. He didn’t know when sorrow replaced the anger, but with his emotions running mock he wasn’t surprised at the sudden tears that found its way.
“Get a divorce then!” Yunho said softly, his voice almost lost amongst the other’s soft sobs.
Jaejoong wrenched free from his arms, “what do you mean?” he asked, “You don’t want anything to do with me, if you won’t take my money, at least you will get spousal support”
The flare of jealousy that burned through Jaejoong was not entirely unreasonable “so that you can marry my sister?” he asked
Jaejoong’s hands reached blindly to the objects beside him, angry red spots covering his line of vision as the lamp suffered his wrath, and yanking it roughly out of his socket he did not even pay attention to the searing pain in his arm as he flung it at his still shocked husband.
“You want to marry that bitch” he asked again “is that why you came to see me?” he asked.
Of all the forms of Jaejoong he had seen this seemed the scariest one, yet Yunho’s eyes were only on the palms of the other man’s hands that in the fit of anger when Jaejoong had flung the lamp at Yunho, his own palms had gotten burned in the process.
He took his lover’s arms patiently, like coaxing a stubborn child out of its tantrum, “Its burned” he said softly leading the other towards the sink. Silent tears flowed out of Jaejoong’s eyes as he let himself be guided by the other.
“You would make a nice father you know” he said hiccupping slightly, Yunho smiled instead pressed ice against his slightly burned fingers.
“I am sorry” he said “I shouldn’t have thrown things at you”
Yunho resisted the urge to grin like a 10 year old the fact that he was at the receiving end of sympathy again. “You did almost hit me with a lamp” he whined rubbing the non existent wound on his forehead.
The worry that passed through Jaejoong’s eyes made his smile, as the younger man peered curiously at his forehead checking for any minor bruises or discoloration “If you want a divorce…” Jaejoong began suddenly, his voice low.
Yunho bent forward trapping the younger man against the sink and his warm body “I love you” he said firmly “I wouldn’t marry anyone else, love anyone else, and be with anyone else like the way I am with you”
“I just want you safe and happy Jaejoong” he said “with all your jobs I don’t know how you will manage, especially when you are so sick”
Jaejoong reached forward tugging the other man’s suit “Just hold me” he said softly “Just for a while” he said burying his head into the other’s chest “I am so tired Yunho” he said “I can’t do this alone”.
“Do what alone?” Yunho asked.
With surprising intensity that Jaejoong wrenched free from his arms again, his good mood seemed vaporised.
“Shit I am late” he said angrily hauling up his duffel bag “Go” he said angrily “you are nothing but a distraction and temptation”
And Yunho found himself pushed to the curb, spouseless again wondering how in the world he could keep up with Jaejoong’s extreme emotions.
