Roses of Picardy by splix: Jim Nicholls/Jamie Stewart, War Horse. (as played by Tom Hiddleston and Benedict Cumberbatch!) Oh my god, though. Oh my god. Just. Perfect in every way. The author effortlessly wove the story between historical events without getting bogged down in the details, and just. Everything rang true emotionally and character-wise and yeah, wow, flawless, amazing, an epic romantic adventure of a story.
So if you don't have plans for your holiday--really, the 70k just FLEW BY, I have no idea how, but yeah. YOU SHOULD GIVE THIS A GO. :DD
side note: I remember when we were leaving the theater after seeing War Horse, when I was finally getting over bawling my eyes out because seeing animals in danger kicks me in the feels-nads every. single. time, my uncle asked me how I liked the movie and I said, "Needs more Cumberbatch and Hiddleston." The above fic is basically what I meant, and wanted, and here it is.
