Snuck onto the internet at the family friend's place for a bit. In a turn of events that should actually surprise no one (but it always gets me EVERY TIME)--the situation is and was not ever going to be a bad one. They are a very nice couple and they've gone out of their way to make sure I know I'm welcome. Cue massive shame for my anti-social freak out, sorry guys.
SO ANYWAY. BASICALLY their place is gooooorgeous--not even doing it justice with that word, it's like something out of a freaking magazine--and I have an entire loft-type area to myself, which doesn't have wifi but their house-house does (idek, it's like. 20 feet that way). But yeah. YEAH. HI INTERNET, it's been...not long at all. It felt very long! *CLINGS*
Here are a few pics of the trip so far:
Writer's conference so far okay. It's a lot of sitting, and some panels are better than others. Last night I wound up sitting next to a lady who tried to convince me Shakespeare must've been a serial killer.
Me: why do you say that?
Her: Well, look at Hamlet! That play was so dark and twisted-
Me: To be fair, his son had just died; Shakespeare was working through a few things
Her: What about Ophelia? What play was she from?
Me: Also Hamlet.
Her: Well, okay, Taming of the Shrew.
Me: Yeah, you’ve…got me there.
The main speaker is a guy who writes naturalist nonfiction, which I have zero interest in--everyone else seems to find him fascinating and transcendent, though, so yay. I am skipping his talk tonight to read avengers slash on the net, if it's all the same. No more creepy bird metaphors if i can help it.
