Euuuuuuuuuuuurghhh

Do any of you remember last semester in medieval lit when I found out there was another SPN fan in class because she was wearing Dean's amulet? And I was like "SHOW!" and she was like "YES" and I was like "COOL" and she was like "THEY BETTER BRING CAS BACK OR I WILL BOYCOTT OMG WHEN WILL SAM JUST GO AWAAAAAY."

And I realized we ( Read more... )

Delurking to sympathize. There's this new girl in my friend group. I rock mythology? She rocks mythology. I like Inception? She likes Inception. I love literature? She loves literature. I crochet? She learns how to crochet. I won't even admit to her that I'm an SPN fan. And she does this... thing. Like, we're standing around before a Bible study starts and randomly she starts screaming in my face about how hot Jensen Ackles is and how she wants to DO HIM!!! She would ride him ALL NIGHT LONG!!! He's just so hoooooot (she draws out the 'o' so that it sounds as if she might be orgasming right in front of me).

And yeah, Dean is hot. But... there's a time and a place? Screaming in my face about how she wants to sex him is just not the way to get me to jump up and down and squee with her. A mutual friend, a kinda conservative girl, was standing right there looking freaked out.

And she babyspeaks at me all the time. "Wiw oo pwease put da spegetsi sauce away for [name redacted]?" *puppy-eyed pouty face* She doesn't do this to anyone else in the group, just me.

Eugh. I do not geek in the way she geeks. She's always triggering my embarrassment squick. The weird thing is, when she's not geekgasming in my direction or trying to be cutesy, she's cool. I feel like an utter douche, and also a bad fangirl for being all judgey at her when I know she just wants to be my friend, but when I try to tell her that she's making me uncomfortable she won't listen. SO super awkward.

That is...no, wow, you are very right, time and a place, yo. Does she know about the internet? She can find other people who might appreciate her multiple vowels and capslock so she doesn't have to do it in your face, WOW.

Ngl, I would absolutely not do anything she asked me to do in babyspeak voice. Have you tried just staring her down until she speaks like an adult human? Like, express with your face wtf ru doin, and just keep it like that until she sees that you are unimpressed.

Or maybe if she thinks she has to act like that to get your attention, say, "You know you don't have to? Calm down, I understand that feel bro, let's use our indoor voices and sophisticosity."

...this has been a dear klu advice column. ...yup.

The first time she ever did the babyspeak thing I just outright told her that I don't like it. The spaghetti sauce incident had me staring her down. She upped the babyspeak. I told her that I would get it for her if she dropped the baby voice and asked like an adult. She finally just got the spaghetti sauce herself. So much for taking a stand.

She's not online, but she games. I have the feeling that maybe scream-y voice flails translates better over gaming speakers than face-to-face. I mean, I capslock online. If I met a fellow fan irl I would be flaily and redic. But... like, I would be flaily and redic with my other fen, not at them?

I am NEVER telling her about my love for SPN, or how Dean is one of my few die-hard crushes. I bet she would ship Destiel. I bet she would go on about how FREAKING HOT the Angel of the Lord is. (Lol, I'll stick to quietly wincesting.)

LOL Okay, I suck at giving advice. Just, ugh, seriously, stick by your guns--she needs to understand that you don't like it. :/

And yeah, I totally get the distinction between with and at (though she obviously doesn't). Oh maaaan, that is always the danger of comparing notes with other spn fans--especially with people like the girl in my class. I was seriously wondering if we were even talking about the same show. *shakes head*

I feel like I need a disclaimer for this fandom sometimes. "Yes, I'm in SPN fandom -- but I'm fairly sane! Really!"

Although I've been drifting away from the fandom proper since robo!Sam.

(And that should have said 'ridic' above. Sorry, middle of finals. I'm bushed.)
