I had an eeeexcellent birthday yesterday, guys, and so much of that was you all and this little internet family we have, so. THANK YOU, from the bottom of my wibbly-wobbly heart. ♥
Last night out with fancy pizza and the girls was also fuckin' excellent, and they let me eat too much and drink all the cider I wanted, and it's ENTIRELY POSSIBLE that Eddie Izzard was in the same restaurant because they like to take the acts there post-gig, but the thing is we were having so much fun on our own that it didn't really matter. Plus I get to see his awesome self tonight on-stage, I AM GOOD.
(Also, you will remember my debilitating fear of celebrities. Only slightly better since Nashcon.)
SO THERE'S THIS THING GOING AROUND, AN AO3 MEME? I'MMA DO IT. Because I was thinking about something similar that I still want to do after I've survived graduation, where we pick our top five fics we've written and talk about why we love them, BUT THIS IS NOT THAT THING. This is Top Ten fics on AO3 by hits:
I Have a History of Taking Off My Shirt - (7726) Steve/Danny: I blame the hit count on the fact that this was written fairly early-on in H5O fandom, when the pickings were slim. Also, someone somewhere commented (not to me) that she found it distracting that Steve never put his shorts back on at the end and was basically standing there super close to power tools with his wang hanging out and I cannot unsee the impending travesty, I am deeply sorry for sharing that with you.
People Around You Smiling Out Loud - (5059) JGL/T-Hard: Again, just like. THERE IS NOT A LOT OF LONGFIC FOR THESE TWO? So I'm like. High count by default. That being said, this fic. Ugh I just love this fic. If I create the other meme thing, this is going in my top five. The whole process of writing it in collaboration with penny, knowing she was going to be reading it, just made everything so much fun.
You've Got Hawaii (and all I've got is you) - (5049) Steve/Danny: This is the fic that ATE MY SOUL. And not in a fun way. Jesus. Probably the least fun I've ever had writing a fic. Why were you so hard.
Without Loss of Generality - (4688) Sherlock/John: ...I think I tricked people into reading this fic with that "more things in heaven and earth" line. There is nothing supernatural at all about this fic. Hrrmm.
Aloha Aku No, Aloha Mai No - (4385) Steve/Danny: The goddamn flower fic. Where I accidentally switched sides the flower was supposed to go on and didn't even notice. Whyyy
I Keep Fixing Every Habit That I Break - (3715) Steve/Danny: REALLY? The fake-rentboy-comment-drabble-fic made it in my top ten??
The Moon Wanted More of My Night - (2980) Gibbs/DiNozzo: That one where Gibbs is a werewolf. Because apparently I can't just dip a toe in someone else's fandom, I have to drop a canonball and run away.
Put On a Slow Dumb Show For You - (2841) Steve/Danny: This is pretty obviously me working through some post-ep feels. Embarrassingly.
Forever Would Be Just Before the Dawn - (2635) Steve/Danny: AGAIN. Dammit.
Dating Lark - (2426) Sherlock/John: Written in a self-induced rush after seeing the unaired pilot while I was house sitting. Contains one of my personal fav lines about frozen peas and pearls. ;3
AAAAAAAND DONE. Interesting that SPN is my primary fandom and not up there anywhere (but kind of understandable, too? SPN fandom is SO BIG, I don't make any ripples in it really, which is so okay, I don't write fic to make ripples.)
So how y'all doing this fine friday afternoon? I'm staying in bed until my girl parts decide to quit eating themselves, and then I'm going out for fruity drinks with my mom :D
