It's 6AM and I'm awake because fucking jetlag aaaaaugh

So yesterday the family and I watched the Downton Christmas Special to start the morning off right (I have sooooo much tv to catch up on, it's ridiculous) and just OH MY GOD YES YES YES YES YES.

I JUST. I CAN'T BELIEVE SO MUCH HAPPENED IN A CHRISTMAS SPECIAL. Because those are usually sort of filler, aren't they? Like, holiday themed fluff that leaves everything where the last season left off, essentially. But THIS.

MARY TOLD MATTHEW, AND MATTHEW DIDN'T THROW HER TO THE WOLVES, OR PITCH A FIT, OR WUSS OUT, OR BE ANYTHING BUT NOBLE AND AWESOME. AND HER DAD, DID YOU SEE HER DAD'S FACE WHEN SHE DESCRIBED HERSELF AS DAMAGED GOODS, I LOVE THAT HE STOOD UP FOR HER. AND I LOVE MARY, FOR BEING BRAVE AND READY TO FACE THIS HEAD-ON AND APOLOGIZING TO RAT-FACED RICHARD--

AKDFALDK ALL MY DOWNTON BABIES BEEN GROWED UP. <333

But most of all, I love that Mary made Matthew spell it out and properly propose to her, for a number of reasons but here's the one at the very top of the list: When my parents got engaged, this is how it went down:

Dad: So. ...When do you want to get married?

Mom: *stares* ...To who?

Dad: What do you mean, to who? To me!

Mom: I'm sorry, but I really don't remember you ever asking.

Dad: Oh. Uh. Fine. Will you marry me?

Mom: Yeaaaah, okay, since you asked so nicely.

Needless to say, Mom was rooting and cheering and fist-pumping when Mary made Matthew propose, and Dad rolled his eyes and said, "They're outside in the snow! She's going to make him kneel in the snow?" and I sat back and cackled weakly because I have the plague and my voice is almost gone.

Sooooo after that the BFF came over and we power-watched all seven episodes of Once Upon a Time, which is still awesome, and I tried my best not to be paranoid about every little thing she does, because I'm not her babysitter. ...Yup.

Also it's -18F outside and the BFF wants to go sledding sometime today. I honestly don't think I can do it because every time I step outside the cold air hits me in a massive coughing fit that makes regular breathing difficult, and sledding breathing nigh impossible. So we'll see.

ugh & damn, alaska: we're cool, do i really need a real life tag?, downton abbey
