Wonderful news (not really)

The law firm that I work for is expanding. Right now we have 3 floors, and we are about to take over 1/2 of a 4th (on floor 26). My boss returned this afternoon from a meeting with the architects who will be designing the layout of our half-floor. She said they had come to a tentative agreement on what will happen up there.

The 26th floor, she said, will become our conference room center. This will allow all large meetings to happen in one central location, which makes sense. The catering staff will be moving up there, since their jobs mostly revolve around meetings. This also makes sense. Then, however, she gave me the really great news. My desk, and the reception area, will also be moving up to 26. So if I wasn't already bored enough sitting on a floor with a lot of people on it, now I am going to move to a floor with only conference rooms to while away the hours by myself. This raises the position of receptionist to a level of boredom I cannot even imagine.

Luckily, I won't be here to see this horrifying turn of events. I don't think there's any way they can finish construction before I quit in August. Ha ha! I pity the poor sucker they stick up there! Thank God for University of Chicago!
