This morning I witnessed the sunrise
It crawled across the mountains
Like the last survivor clawing for a way out
Though this was not my first sunrise
It seemed as though no other could compare
To the excruciating pain
Instruments of pink, apricot, and gold stabbed out my eyes
The clouds shifted exposing the moon
Casting light upon the ground
Revealing my solitary figure
Smoke filled my lungs
And soon escaped from my lips
Like blood once did from my tattered wrists
It seems as though I did not witness the sunrise
But the sun setting in my own chest
I do not know how long it will take
For you to read this
But by then who knows where I’ll be
It’s strange how moments like this
Show how alone we really are
