re-reading a speech

Jul 18, 2005 10:15

Almost four years ago now, I read a speech made by Charlton Heston (for whomever knows who he is anymore) to students at Harvard. When I read the speech then, a lot of my feelings were put into better words by him (or possibly by his speech editors). Either way, I read it again - to see if the words still struck the same chord. I still love the speech, although, thank God, political correctness is no longer en vogue and, just maybe, our social climate is on a better stint. If you have never read the speech and would like to tickle your brain for less than ten minutes of time, just do a general search for Charlton Heston's "Culture War" speech at Harvard (1999).
