Still Here! :)
Oh good lord. If I've had a minute to write in this journal I've spent it napping. I'm working very hard, but mostly because I'm enjoying the challenges. The hours have taken some getting used to. It's nice to come home in the early afternoon but I miss the more energetic hours before work I used to utilize for running errands and such. Now, I just want to unwind after a day of work. I guess I run out of steam.
Nearly every day my boss tells me, "Have I told you how happy I am to have you here?" I'll admit I was overwhelmed at first because it's a huge place and I've been reorganizing it from the ground up... every detail. I won't bore you with them. As long as I'm moving in the right direction and everyone knows it, I don't mind the workload. In three short weeks I've fired and rehired most of my staff and those that are new or still left embrace me as their new supervisor. I'm motivating and coaching them every day.
The health inspector came this morning and I showed him around the department. He pointed out a few small and easily fixed details and told me it's looking better than the last time he was there. That was what I wanted to here. I've been making many vast changes and it shows. I have been hired on as part of an entirely new management team whose main goal is to fix the mess made by our slothful predecessors.
I've felt capable and powerful since the first day I walked in the door. I've found myself marveling at myself, and feeling amazing. The courage to be great lies deep within us. I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! I've got three weeks of journal reading to catch up on.
