Oh, show.

Hey, I finally found a Sonny icon I actually like! Anyhoo. Thoughts.

1) Why all the gags about how Grady and Nico can't get girls? I know they're usually contrasted with Chad, who's supposed to be a heartthrob, but the show has yet to show me why they're considered complete nobodies. Like, there's an episode where one of the extras on the show doesn't know who Nico is and he has a crush on her. Um. She's an extra on the show on which he's STARRING (wow, what an awkwardly constructed phrase) but she doesn't know who he is? Uh, No. Both dudes are funny and talented (and I'm especially fond of Nico because Brandon Smith was the only watchable element of Starstruck -- even SK sucked in that). And let's not forget, within the reality of the show *on TV*, which doesn't hurt any. (I mean, they're on TV in real life, too, but... you know what I mean).

1b) Also, the episode ends with him finally talking to her and then running away because she has a deep (read: overdubbed with male) voice. Transphobia? Implied homophobia? Fear of women who don't conform to femininity in a very specific way? Some of all of the above? IDK, but it was a moment of fail.

2) That said, I love that Nico and Grady are totally gay for each other and also both totally gay for Chad. (Also, they did reference how Chad was "only using them for their bodies" in the most recent episode, right? I didn't imagine that?)

3) So... Zora hit puberty between seasons, huh? I wish they wouldn't force her into the Weird Voice because it's just painful all around. I mean, her shtick wasn't really funny when she still looked like a tween; now that she's clearly a teenager, it falls even more flat. Oy.

4) Season two is definitely weirder.

5) My favorite jokes on the show are always the ones where they realize how annoying Sonny's can-do attitude is and mock her for it. ("Now do something woodsy and bonding." "Can we hit Sonny with a log?" "Only if you pick it out together. That's bonding!")

6) When SK isn't phoning it in (maybe 50% of the time? they don't actually have much for him to do, which doesn't help any) he is the most hilarious of all time. Also, I would totally TOTALLY watch Mackenzie Falls.

7) I wish I had the time and energy to finish the Sonny/Chad fic I started. It still makes me giggle upon rereading, but man, it is never going to happen. Alas. (Speaking of, anyone have recs? Because Sonny/Chad bickering = MY FAVORITE EVER. Seriously, that is my all time favorite relationship dynamic. As anyone who has read, say, HISMSV knows.)
