So this week I went to Adelaide and came back. Let me tell you something about the drive to Adelaide from Melbourne - it is long (8-9 hours), flat, and full of sheep. Like. Nothing for kms upon kms but fields and paddocks of sheep. And sometimes cows or horses. And once, llamas. But mostly sheep. I think by the time we got there I had almost driven Trav to murder by yelling out 'SHEEP' every three seconds.

ALSO, I was really sick. This was kind of a last minute idea, and I already had a sore throat when we were planning it, and I was like, gee, I hope this goes away instead of turning into a cold like it does 99% of the time! Of course it didn't go away, and by the time we were driving in, I had a full blown head cold/deathflu. And of course in Adelaide, it being a glorified country town, everything shuts at like, five pm, which means there was nowhere to go to get medicine. Argh. That was one of the worst nights ever, trying to sleep in the hotel room when I couldn't even breathe, argh, argh.

But! Trav went out the next morning (it was a Sunday so nothing opened until ELEVEN) and got me some meds, and I started to get better. We went and visited the Big Rocking Horse, which I remember from when I was about six, and they had a little petting zoo there, where I fed goats and sheep and things like, yes, a six year old (also, I got bitten by an alpaca, those things are the spawn of Satan). WHAT ELSE. I saw all my Adelaide relatives, Grandma and aunts and uncles and sundry cousins. And then the next day we went to Adelaide Zoo which, while not quite as good as Melbourne Zoo in most respects, has the only two pandas in the Southern Hemisphere. And that was cool, because I'd never seen a panda before. It also has finger monkeys, aka pygmy Marmosets, which are quite possibly the coolest, cutest animal in the world. Good times.

Back in the real world, though, they're finally (FINALLY, FINALLY ARGH) starting to build my house tomorrow. Yay! There was a touch of drama today because it turns out that our neighbour, who had just built on the block of land next to us, had basically used our lot as a tip. There was this massive pile of building waste sitting on a corner of it, and our builder was like, 'Yah, that all needs to be gone by seven tomorrow morning because we've already hired all the earth moving equipment and there will be massive fines if we have to delay.' Cue massive panic and rushing around, but with a little help from the neighbour whose rubbish it was (I mean, jeez) we managed to get it sorted and yes, they start to build my lovely, shiny, brand new house on the morrow. Expect a lot of pictures of it as it goes up, because building a house is exciting (to me).

And now, my dumplings, I must be off, because I need to finish writing my spring fling. Uh. So I'm pulling an all nighter, maybe.

LOVE LOVE LOVE!
