So my football team lost, which obviously means no one is allowed to talk about footy for the next week. OK?? NO FOOTBALL FOR A WEEK. *sobs quietly* (I am in PHYSICAL PAIN.)
But THAT could be because I have started jogging. YUP. Because I am going to join the Australian Reserve Army - awwww yiss. I don't even care what the motherfuckers in Gen Kill say about reservists, ok, because I can't join the regular army on account of being engaged and building a house. But anyway, I want to join up in a few months so I need to start getting fit, which means jogging and hating myself when my lungs start burning after 4 minutes and I almost puke in someone's front yard. I am really bad at jogging, yo. But if popular culture has taught me anything, it's that jogging is pretty much straight up all you do in the military. Unless you're a Recon Marine, in which case what you do is sit in a humvee for three weeks and be amused by Ray Person.
On the other hand, I have recs!
sharksdontsleep wrote me this awesome
Ray/Walt trans story which is basically the best thing ever - hot and raw and funny and sharp, all the things SDS is known for. And yes I am totally fucking name dropping there like a big old starfucker. OH, YISS, SDS WROTE ME THIS STORY. Then we went out for lattes at this little cafe and ran into Jeremy Renner and he's just so darling...
Uh. Also, I've been reading most of the GK battle fics, which have been pretty damn good. Except - is Brad/Nate just so common now that we don't need to even put 'Brad/Nate' in the story header? Because they've ALL been B/N (probably) and none have the pairings listed. Whatevs! I'm just bitter because I'm reading B/N fic and TOTALLY ENJOYING IT.
Now I reassure you that not only am I not DOING the battle fics, I don't even know who IS (I wasn't paying attention, whoops!) and I have no idea who's on what team. Having said that, my favourite has been
this Ray&Brad buddy fic in which they go on an epic road trip together and are perfect (and I'm PRETTY SURE it's implied B/N even though Nate isn't in it), and
this one in which they're all Marine Biologists, instead of Marine Marines (Brad/Nate more than anything else) and
this one, which is a ghost story, and pretty rad (Brad/Nate).
Speaking of fanfiction, oh my god. I am on 5688 words of my big bang, which maybe another five hundred to add from my notebook, and another five hundred word bit to write that I came up with in my head while jogging and trying not to faint. I'm kind of having trouble keeping my Ray's apart, though. I have a few things about Ray that are my personal fanon, but I need to make THIS Ray a different character to the one I wrote about in In This White Wave. Also, I keep adding in these scenes with his mom, and look, it's supposed to be a story about Ray and Walt dealing with being in love and back in the States and Walt being a Marine still while Ray has to wait for him and SO ON. Not about Ray and his mom going out for pancakes and Ray's mom wanting him to hook up with the cute waitress and stuff. BECK. REIN THAT SHIT IN.
...fuck, there was something else that I can't remember. Fuuuuck. Here's a tip about me - I never remember to bookmark ANYTHING. AT ALL. I am constantly clicking through my history trying to find shit. Here is what I have bookmarked -
Orisinal (I like the bunny game), two perfume blogs I never read anymore,
Trigger Finger and a Dean/Castiel reclist that I also never read anymore. I FAIL AT BOOKMARKING. So I'll read a shitload of stuff, and then get distracted, and then forget about it. I'm not a very organised person. I should probably make a fanfic bookmark folder and put everything in there, but...I will probably forget to do that.
Anyway, so there WAS something else that I was trying to remember posting about, but now I can't and have, once more, failed the internet. I'm sorry! I will try better next time.
Besides, I have an excuse - the jogging really is fucking killing me, holy shit. It needs to happen, though, so every evening I'ma cue up 'Lose Yourself' on the old ipod and get that shit DONE. *dies*
Here, I leave you with Marines spooning, and a dog.
