Adventures when travelling with the DB

And the prize for bad service goes to the Deutsche Bahn

It started with the train leaving the station later than scheduled. Not because our train was late, but because another train was blocking our track. No idea why, but that train had been still standing there 25 minutes after the departure time.

Entering train and looking for your seat: surprise...surprise...the reservation system was out of order. the display didn't indicate if a place was taken or not. I kinda sucks if you find an "empty seat" in a full train and have to leave it because someone else has a booking for a seat.

For any reason the DB had been using a short train on that day (they had only 2/3 of the cars they usually have). Very silly decision for a) a Holiday and b) more people taking the train because of the weather conditions.

From Stuttgart on the train was so full that the DB said that people had to leave the train in Mannheim.
Which is indeed sucky because a) it was Christmas and b) due to the weather other trains have been cancelled or have been late. I had to change trains in Mannheim, so I was more concerned about getting my connection.
But I trusted the conductor that our train would wait for us and that the train would leave from the scheduled track....which it did not...but which was something you only found out because suddenly someone was yelling: Hey, isn't that our train there on track 1?
So suddenly everyone started to run...but it was too late: I could just wave to the just leaving train.
Which meant that I would come home an hour later.
Comment from the information desk when complaining about missing the train because of wrong information: Be glad that there are any trains at all today!
WRONG ANSWER!
I missed my train because you fucked up and that had nothing to do with the weather!
That behaviour is more than insolent!
Well, due to another connecting train being late I came home two hours later than scheduled. Merry Christmas!

But it is good to be home again!
