I really wonder how Conlan Press survives. Their decisions are so fucked up that they should have fallen into bankruptcy years ago. My only explanation: the Peter S. Beagle fans save them again and again.
Backstory
Years and years ago Conlan Press announced that there would be sequel to the "Last Unicorn" and that "Two Hearts" would be made available first for everyone ordering the special limited luxury edition of the new "Last unicorn" audiobook. (well, at least someone here might remember when that was as it was offered as Xmas gift. He, good thing that I declined saying that it was too expensive... this person would have had many opportunities and reasons to revoke the order)
I am usually not a big fan of audiobooks. But the "Last Unicorn" being read by Beagle himself? I couldn't resist! Especially not with the special deal in form of "Two Hearts"
Well, the production of the audiobook was delayed and delayed....and actually it still isn't produced yet.
And of course I didn't get to read "Two Hearts" either before it was officially released ("Two Hearts" did win the Nebula and Hugo Award...but I was disappointed about the story)
So...this year Conlan offered the comic version of "The Last Unicorn". They did ship the first 2 issues of the Comic...but then....well, I got yesterday a little email in which they admitted that they fucked up!
What happened? They forgot to order issues 3-6 of the comic...and the comic is sold out (at least there are not enough to cover the orders Conlan had) and the publisher says that there is a 3000 copies Minimum Order Quantity for a reprint.
Options:
A) Wait and get your comics as we get the new printings from IDW. For those of you who choose this option, Peter and I will sweeten the deal with a limited edition LAST UNICORN comic art print that will never be offered to anyone else.
B) Swap the remainder of your current subscription for a signed, personalized hardcover edition of the complete LAST UNICORN graphic novel, which IDW is releasing at the end of January
I guess the answer is pretty easy: B (especially considering my experience with them)
