My summer of visiting friends!

I love how, whether it be drawing or writing entries on LiveJournal, it takes me, like, two freaking months to complete anything. Well, surprise! I'm updating LiveJournal now!

Okay, so I've been on a friend-visiting spree this summer. For the first part of the summer I went to Raleigh to see my buddy Justin and to go to Animazement. Then, in June I saw my friends Madi (sea_demon) and Ojo (suoh_delucifel) (who came down to see Wicked) and then I went to Boone to see my buddy Amanda (theaphelia.) I guess I just had too much fun to write about it.

So before Madi and Ojo came down, I was in a cleaning frenzy. I thought that giving myself just Saturday and Sunday would do it. The answer is no. I was up very late cleaning, and I got so obsessed that I even cleaned stuff that didn't matter like the aluminum mini-blinds and the kitchen curtains. I really, really wanted to put working locks on the doors of the bathrooms (well, everyone wants that) but apparently putting door handles on door is ROCKET SCIENCE! You have to get the latch and the latch hole exaaaaaaaaaaactly together or it won't lock. And since this magical thing is so hard (and we didn't have a dremmel/drill), Dad did not want me to put locking doors up.

It was good seeing them after, like, FIVE FUCKING YEARS. I almost thought it was going to be a little awkward since it'd been so long, but it was like I only saw them yesterday.

So we went to Hickory and went to the mall and poured over Claires for eternities. We wanted to go on the carousel or the high-jump rig but they were charging for those and we didn't want it THAT much. Hm... Then we went to go see Prince of Persia. It's a good film, it does have good entertainment value. It's not amazing or mindblowing, but it is worth seeing. Too bad it's likely out of theatres by now.

I got them to try Cook Out shakes, though. >:3 North Carolina special!

As luck would have it, I got another day with them thanks to Madi's mom-wrangling. So we went to see the graveyards in Statesville, where I learned that Ojo is perturbed greatly by ants. Soon we were all perturbed by the weather, seeing as it was very humid and very hot (probably in the 90s) so we went to Sonic to get some cool shakes and then went home.

It was a too short visit and I need to go visit them up in Virginia at some point. The good question is WHEN? Haha, probably not in July? It's almost over! I'll figure something out.

Next up was the trip to Amanda in Boone. I went from Conover to Taylorsville and then west of Wilkesboro. That won't make any sense to you guys who don't live here, so the short version? I took the lovely scenic route that was not HILLS AND DEATH. It was a very pleasant trip and I love the look of Taylorsville -- rolicking hills and to-die-for scenery without the massive cliff-drop hills of Boone or Blowing Rock. Definitely going up that way again in the future.

Me and Amanda went to Applebees and had dinner, then schlumped around at WalMart. The next day we went to Blowing Rock which was full of old summer tourists. There was nothing to really do in Blowing Rock because it was all either boutique clothing, lame antiques (not good antiques) and random art/knickknack stores. But we did get to eat at The Mellow Mushroom and at Kilwin's Ice Cream, so I guess things worked out! XD We ended up eating out a lot, but one thing Amanda would not do was go to a fastfood joint. She got downright surly when I suggested it.

I made some cool finds at a Goodwill! I was reading the CD racks rather casually when I saw the words "Das Letzte..." and I went "OH NO WAY!" Turns out -- YES WAY! I got the soundtrack to The Last Unicorn! In case you don't know: There never was an American soundtrack to The Last Unicorn. The only soundtrack they made was in Germany! I don't know how that soundtrack ended up here in an American Goodwill, but you can bet your ass I snatched it up right away.

I also made a great movie haul at the WalMart we went to: I got The Hogfather and The Color of Magic (Man, I love Terry Pratchett's stuff too much!) in a one-pack for cheap and I also got The Others. Amanda and I did watch The Others together -- it was hard keeping the TWEEST from her. In turn, we watched Secret Window with Johnny Depp which was creepy but not really that scary.

By the end of the trip she got all reclusive and curt, though, so I left on an awkward note. I guess her people tolerance is really low. I'm thinkin' that's from the Aspergers, haha!

Um... In other news, I found out a bowling alley that's close by has a DDR machine so I think I'm going to go play it when I get a chance (maybe even today!) I just have to stock up on quarters! Should be easy because there's a change machine there.

My Uncle Brian's week-long birthday party just went by. We had chicken wings and ice cream cake! We also set off poppers and wore party hats. Haha, I think this week has been awesome for him.

I'm trying to think of other things to write, but I can't so... it's over!
