Here I am reading about Mikhail Vrubel and Mikhail Lermontov again. I'm mostly focusing on Mikhail Vrubel now, and he's quickly becoming one of my favorite Art Nouveau artists. Sure, I want to read Mikhail Lermontov's poem "The Demon" in English, but I haven't found it yet. But what I have found is Mikhail Vrubel's startling art. I believe I mentioned him in a previous entry somewhere, but let me just idolize the man all over again.
He was the
premiere Russian Art Nouveau artist, though not as famous as other Art Nouveau notables like Mucha or Toulouse-Lautrec. And, the coolest part of all -- his art drove him mad. According to
this, he "died a blind and insane man, haunted by the muse he so devotedly helped to create. Indeed, Vrubel's obsession with the imagery of the "Demon" - consumed much of the artist's creative life, and may have consumed the artist himself." Now THAT is the epitome of being a true artist: having your mind slowly consumed and murdered by your own damn art and your own damn creativity. I don't know about you, but
mad artist's compositions have so much MORE in them because of that leaking of the subconscious mind. It's called creative genious, and I deeply respect it. That's ART, man... That's ART.
Speaking of my major, I sent off most of the stuff I needed to send out to Western Carolina University. Hopefully it gets there, yes? Oh, yes... Now I just have a few things to take care of, like applying for scholarships.
In other news, I went out on the town today. First I went to go get my asthma inhaler prescription, but, as it turns out, I DON'T HAVE ONE. Whaaaaaaaaaaaat? I swore I did, and I swore that we filed it. I don't know what happened with that, but it looks like I'll need it reissued. ._. I can't DO anything physically exhausting without it, otherwise I get stabby pains in mein chest tubes. Argh... Now I have to call the freakin' allergy office and get the doctor to give me another prescription.
After that, I spent about three hours at Mitchell just using their computer lab and catching up on my reading. The
Megaman Photoshop Phriday had me laughing SO HARD and I tried to keep quiet since other people were using machines nearby. Seriously. Oh, and I also caught up on some of my LJ Community reading. YAY FOR NOT BEING CONSTANTLY UNDER MONITOR BY BIG BROTHER!! :D 1984 NO MORE! Woohaw! XD The labs have no monitoring or filters, plus there's really no time limit. It's great. I might have to go back there later.
Then it was off to WalMart to see if they had Daft Punk's Discovery album. The short answer: No.
Then, I went around. I heard a message on my phone that Ernesto left me. As it so turns out, his Radio Shack is hiring and he wanted to let me know. So, I applied. Unfortunately, the mouse I was using for the application had side buttons and those side buttons hit "Back" on the browswer if you accidentally even brushed them. I had to "apply" like eleventy million times x_o and I'm sure there are multiple system entries. OH WELL, I GUESS THAT JUST LOOKS LIKE I REALLY WANT A JOB, WHICH I DO. Ernesto admitted they're pretty desperate for help XD!
A good thing about this Radio Shack is that from what Ernesto has commented, they really don't have a lot of customers to deal with so it's a pretty low-profile job I guess... and it's a small space so there's not a lot of products, customers or other employees! :D Uh, I dunno what I'll do, but I'll probably get called in for an interview. I'd better take this chance while I've got it. I mean, I've applied everywhere in freakin' TOWN and nobody ever called me back, so this is my best shot. ._. Desperate me, desperate employers... I guess it could work. I'm nervous ._. I mean, I've applied at so many places already and who even knows if I'll get a job there. *Sigh*
After that, it was time to jet to the Statesville mall's media store to see if THEY had Discovery by Daft Punk. Yes, they did, and HOLYOMIGAWD it was eighteen smackaroos. Eighteen dollars for a several years-old CD? NO THANK YOU. I wish somewhere around here had it for cheap. Ah, I guess I could try BestBuy up in Hickory, eh? Yeah.
And after that, I was bound for home... Jake and I watched "Escape from L.A." which is what Metal Gear was based on, or so I hear. It was pretty awesome and Kurt Russell is a badass. Seriously. The scene with the mutant plastic surgery people was hilarious, and the Surgeon General of Beverly Hills just so happened to be BRUCE CAMPBELL! XD ... And he looked like a bizarre Robbie Rotten. It was scary.
Uh... I took the movie back after that and had dinner. Eh... that's prettymuch my day.
