So this is why I'm mad.

I would not be a christian without my church's children's choir.  I would have been bored by the long sermons and hurt by the cold treatment of my peers, and I would have left the church.  I would have been wrong of course, but that's not the point...anyhow...

Apparently my church is cancelling the music program.  We're still having songs at the start of the service, but that's it.  No adult choir, no band, and worst of all, no children's choir.  I'm not angry at anyone in particular.  We hired the guy who does it at as a 'custodian' just so we could give him a salary.  Now he wants to quit all the music stuff and just going back to cleaning the building.  He might have taken on too much, but I can't imagine him quitting all together!  I mean, he can write for and play any instrument in a common band.  It's the worst waste of talent I've seen since EVER.  I have the feeling that there's more going on, so I can't be mad.

It breaks my heart, it really does.  Like I said, it's the reason I'm a christian.  The musicals I was in over 8 years taught me all the major bible stories, and many bible verses.  What's more, music remains the most powerful force in my life.  Worst of all though, I know there are other girls out there, just like me, that will lose their faith without something like children's choir supporting them, feeding their spiritual growth.

And the adult choir musicals used to be a huge event, people have been saved because of them.

I can only hope that someone will pick this up and start running the music program.  It can be a great force for change in people's lives.  In that vein, I'd like to leave you with the ugandan orphans choir. They just performed at my church today, that's what got me thinking about all of this.
