Jeremiah's illness drama

Okay, so things have been a little crazy lately... we got home from our family reunion on Sunday the 26th on Monday Jeremiah stayed home from work because he had a sore throat. All the next week he kept complaining that things did not taste right, soda, candy, salad... Anything he ate did not taste right. The next Sunday we decided to go camping for the 4th so we packed up and headed out to Sand Hollow (kind of a mini lake Powell) with Blair (Jeremiah's brother )and Paige and their family. That night Jeremiah said that he was having a hard time drinking thngs, that he couldn't keep his lips sealed to drink through a straw and that he kept dribbling on his right side. I figured that he was just over exaggerating whatever was going on, like he had a bug bite on his lip or something silly like that. The next morning, on the 4th we woke up and he could not move that side of his face at all. We stayed out at the lake all day and he was of course miserable. The next day he went to his doctor and he sent him to a ear nose and throat specialist who told him that he thought that it might be bells palsy, which is a pretty common virus that a lot of people get that makes one side of their face paralyzed. They were kind of worried though because he did have a small amount of movement in his face which they told him could be the onset of MS or it could be a tumor. So, they gave him some valtrex and prednisone to see if that would help at all. (This is how they treat Bells Palsy btw). He went back to the doctor on Thursday and they told him that they wanted him to go up to Salt Lake City to go to a doctor that specialized in this sort of thing and that he may have to have surgery on that nerve. His appointment was scheduled for the next Tuesday it is a $40,000.00 surgery, which his insurance would not have covered and he had to come up with half of that up front.... uhhhhh, right! So, Monday comes around and he gets a little bit of movement back in his face. He calls the local doctor and tells him this and the doctor stays late so that he can come in and check him out before he goes up to Salt Lake. he tells him that it is not a significant enough improvement and that he should still keep his appointment. so, we rent a car ($108.00 later) and drive up north to see this specialist. On the way we (Jermeiah) get a ticket ($82.00). come to find out, there is nothing more than Bells Palsy wrong with him. After all of this stress, the thought that Jeremiah may be dying, he went and bought a living will and power of attorney for crying out loud. The doctors down here are just incompetent!!! The only reason that we should have been sent to Salt Lake is if he had absolutely no movement in one side of his face AT ALL! They have a test that can determine if there is still nerve function when there is no movement and that is what they sent us up there for. How retarded can they be? Of course there is nerve function if his freakin face is MOVING! So, we do feel better that we went up there, but that has been the stress for me lately!!

I have been trying to read lately but hopefully will be able to comment more from now on!!

SMOOCHIES TO ALL! :)
