[Because the idea hit my head like the proverbial anvil during the paradisa kink meme and then the others wanted to see it written. *is shot* Guys, I hope you don't mind the liberties I took with your muses, especially Inara as I don't know her canon AT ALL, and Bria, I hope this brings you some cheer during your work hours from hell! makemethe_hero, spongetastic, and gracefulwoman used with permission.]

Adam is the first to get to Lucy after she comes back; he knows her room number, and he knows well the way there. When he enters, she's huddled up against the backboard of her bed, still in the underwear she died in, looking into a hand mirror and tracing a finger along the faint spidery scars on her face. Those strange, jagged symbols weren't there, the last time Adam saw her. She looks up at him, and he's crossed the room before he can even really think, and crushed her to his chest. Lucy doesn't seem to mind the roughness of it. He knows he ought to be gentle, but his relief and--dare he say it--joy at finally seeing her alive again is too strong. He strokes her hair and kisses the top of her head, over and over; when she shifts to look up at him and his mouth awkwardly catches the corner of hers by mistake, they both naturally slide together into a full-on kiss.

And precisely because the moment is ripe for misinterpretation, that's when Peter arrives. He stops short at the sight of Adam and Lucy locked in an embrace, and looks a bit struck dumb. Neither of the other two are ashamed to have been caught. Lucy, for her part, is as pleased to see him as someone so traumatized can be pleased at all; Adam looks at him steadily, making no apologies, and asking for understanding.

Inara comes in then, takes in and correctly interprets the entire tableau in a glance, and rushes over to Adam and Lucy, attempting to throw her arms around them both. It's a subtle signal towards Peter that it's okay, no one's cheating on anyone. They're all simply happy to have Lucy back, alive and well, after the harrowing experience they shared. Lucy manages to extend a hand to him, inviting him in, and after a slight hesitation Peter walks forward and accepts it. He sits on the bed next to her, and she pulls him in until her back is against his chest and her head is pillowed on Adam's shoulder. It's a sort of Peter-Lucy-Adam sandwich, with Inara enveloping them with her arms like a paper sleeve. For a time, all four are more or less content to rest this way in silence.

Peter isn't exactly sure when the tenor of the situation changes. All he knows is, he's been resting his forehead against Adam's while the other man has been running one hand through Lucy's hair and Inara has been idly stroking his arm. Then Adam's moved to press his lips to his hairline and Inara's hand on his arm is shooting tingles up his spine. He has a moment of hesitation again--doubt, floundering about in waters he's never swam in before, is this really heading where I think it is?--but he has a very hard time resisting Adam on his best days, and the movements of Inara's hand manage to be as soothing as they are suddenly exciting. It's a weird juxtaposition. He alone seems to be the only one phased by the sharp turn their comfort circle is taking; Adam and Inara obviously aren't batting any eyes and Lucy seems almost oblivious, still pressed between Adam and himself with her eyes closed.

"It's all right, love," Adam murmurs, and Lucy stirs then and lifts her head from his shoulder. Peter's stomach churns at the sight of the scars on her face, but she smiles at him and kisses his cheek and says, very carefully, "Thank you." Then she glances at Adam, who gives her a barely perceptible nod, before turning her scarily empty eyes back to Peter and deliberately kissing him on the lips.

It turns into an entirely pleasant blur, punctuated now and again by sharp moments of clarity. Inara's fingernails ghosting down his back; Adam hot and tight around him; Lucy's breasts in his hands, nipples hardening at his touch. He forgets his initial unease at there being four instead of two. Somehow, it feels right to share this kind of release after those nightmare days of two weeks ago, and somehow, they fit right. Inara's curves complement Lucy's more petite figure; he and Adam are both perfect heights for them and for each other. He and Lucy aren't as experienced in a group, but Adam and Inara are more than willing to teach.

"We missed you, Lucy," Inara murmurs, much later, smoothing the other woman's tangled hair away from her face, and this time when Lucy smiles Peter can see a little life returning to her empty eyes.
