Scary advice column

Aug 19, 2007 10:44

I just read this scary advice column talking about how it's totally normal to be afraid if your spouse has opposite-sex friends at work or through other contacts because they're all a "threat" to the marriage. All the comments seemed to think it was totally normal and that it was impossible to have friends of the opposite sex. I was really shocked. I have married male friends and I am certainly not hoping to start some sort of affair with them.

Sometimes it's just easier to talk about certain topics with people of the opposite sex. Like if I want to complain about the horribleness of wedding/baby showers, men will always get it. I'm not really a girly girl so hanging out with big groups of women is usually torture for me. I don't understand why people  can't respect that friendships come from interests, not from the fact that you're both of the same sex.
