London Bridge

Well, after my lovely bath, which wasn't near as lovely as a bath back home will be, but got me clean, and getting changed, we finally headed for London Bridge. I've been quiet. It's feeling weird even to me, but I just have a lot on my mind. There's all these stupid thoughts keep going through my head. About London, about home...about everyone ( Read more... )

"Are you sure she heard you?" I ask, irritably and not fir the first time - it's getting cold out here and I can't quite get my mind away from the demon with a sword through it's foot that Buffy and I left not too far from here. Call me paranoid, but something makes me think we may not actually be his favourtie people right now. Anyway, I really don't want to stay around here to find out.

I lean against part of the bridge and give Anya a Look. "Okaaaay...which part of 'Yes, Anya, she heard me' do you need clarified, so I don't have to answer it again?" I snap. "She heard me. She may not be the sharpest tool in the shed, but her hearing's fine. Calm down. She'll be here." Though it better be soon. Hurry up, Buffy, I want to go home.

"No need to be like that about it," I mumble tetchily. I wander to the edge of the bridge and look out over the water, then think better of it and pull back out of the view of whatever may be lurking below. "I just thought she would be here by now, that's all. It's not like she had to stop and have the world's longest bath, or anything," I say, referring not so subtly to Cordelia's mammoth ablution session.

"I'm sorry, did you have something better to do while I washed the grime of..." I frown. "....I don't even know how long I was in there." I say softly, losing my stride in crabbing back. I blink, pushing past it. "Anyways, if you're going to be bitchy to me, then I'll be bitchy back." I watch her for a long moment. "Anya...what is it? You've been acting...even weirder than usual ever since I got out...what's with you?"

"Nothing, nothing's wrong," I say irritably, my hand going into my pocket to check the Orb is still there - which, of course, it is. "Why do you assume that anything's wrong, except for the fact I've had to wait on you for ever whilst you primp and - what's that all about, anyway? It's not like we're out to impress anyone, what with standing here on a bridge in the dark and everything! Hardly the place for a fashion parade, yet you spent hours getting every strand of your hair in place before you'd let us come out."

I level my gaze at her, and my voice is that dangerous, deceptively light tone. "Anya? When you start having visions that could potentially blow the back of your skull out in a shower of blood and bone, and have to fix whatever little proplem they fortell of, and have to spend forever in the worst mental institution on record? Then you can bitch. I wanted to feel normal again, and that's all I had to work with. So shut up about it. You got to sit back most of this trip. You didn't have the powers that suck hounding you to fix a problem, and they don't exactly take 'no' for an answer."

Wow, I haven't been this pissed off in a long time. ...kinda feels nice. At least it stops the parade of uncertain thoughts flitting through my head.

I pause as I remember why we got into this discussion in the first place. "And I assume something's wrong because you're acting weird."

"Oh look," I say, overly cheerfully. "Carriage - let's hope it's Buffy, shall we?" I turn away from her as the cab pulls to a stop beside us - I'm not going to continue this conversation when she's being like this.
